Im not Pro Obama, but this issue has been ignored for 30 some years. Its actually kind of funny how only now people are beginning to get worked up over the illegal alien issue...Which begs the question - are the illegals now flooding far off places from the border now, like Maine/Vermont/Georgia etc ? Probably.
-snip-

Yeah, they are. I'm in NC. It's cost of us a lot of money. We've had to build several new schools in a short period of time to accommodate their kids etc. Community hospital nearly went bankrupt.

The upside is a bunch of Mexican restaurants. However, I doubt the other restaurateurs appreciate the competition.

Edit: BTW your premise is false. 30 year ago I lived in Miami. Look up all the problems and complaints regarding the Marielitos 30 yrs ago.

Oh, but I suppose you want a multi-trillion dollar welfare state in addition to unfettered immigration.

Actually I am concerned about the possible effects of illegal immigration even if morally I think that someone should be able to immigrate to America if he wants to.

Wow what?

For all you know if millions of hard working immigrants with who are not spoiled by feeling entitled to the luxuries of their upper class establishment take a prominent place in America and they have their own ploitical views than maybe they might make America far more successful than the spoiled ignorant and psycologically entitled brats that think the rest of the world is obligated no mandated to preserve the prestige of America for Americans from their own work. Maybe we might have citizens who actually take the initiative and demand far more transparancy and accountability from their government and we could have less partisanship and corruption. Instead most wasps sit on their lazy ass and let big brother corporate-government complex have full control.

If we are playing make believe, all illegals rape children.

By the way if we are going to talk about the fall of Rome then you have to realize that it was the Romans who caused the fall of Rome not the Germanics. The Romans allowed their civilization to become infested lazyness, entitled ignorance, and corruption to the point they could not even keep a standing army and had to rely on the Germanic warriors for protection. The Germanics are only the sympton and not the cause of the fall of Rome. But blame this on individual Mexican immigrants if you want to.

Scotts Irish, Irish, English, German, etc.
Of course I also found some American Native Ancestry.
Family History book says to beware of the Tyranny of the British. This would go for anyone else who thinks they are royalty in the USA.

No different than the government changing the way it calculates the CPI every once in a while to give us nice inflation numbers.

Hmm...I don't ever see that happening to the US!

Yes, Mexicans are well known for setting up a fair and transparent government. In fact, I can't believe they're coming to the US given the virtual paradise from which they originally hail.

I live in North Miami now, and Ive been here since the late 90s but of course that is quite aways off the late 70s early 80s when the boatlift was happening. I heard about the problems of course, and Miami itself is like visiting another country in most areas, there is no doubt about it. But yea this area has definitely been through the ringer with immigration, I will say though that Cuban Americans more often than not pull their weight in this country and contribute plenty, despite coming here with nothing to start off with...That group of latin immigrants is something I wish other groups would try and emulate.

Yeeeeaaaah... because that is our actual experience with illegal immigrants (sarcasm)... uh huh. Have you lived in a city that the population was pretty much solely illegal immigrants or the children of them (recently - don't bring up 1900's irrelevant to now stuff)?? Or are you making a joke?

Funny how developed countries such as France, Italy, Australia are sending ILLEGALS back.

Funny how developed countries such as Italy, Australia are sending ILLEGALS back to their home countries.

You use two of the worst countries you could find to make your point? Italy and Australia are home to massive racism. Add to that the massive illegal immigrants in Italy are there because of the massive crime and corruption in Italy that brought them there and you know who to blame. You could find other countries who have restricted immigration that are not cesspools.

Those two are just a small example. I just added France onto the mix.

I asked before and I will ask again, can you or anyone name one sovereign country on Earth that you can sneak in and demand rights as them ILLEGALS are doing in the US? Just one contry. Get set, ready, go!!!

LOL. France was an example that came to my mind right away but I realized it was also a bad example because of racism towards Arabs and Roma. Not sure what the immigration policies are in Germany but I know they also have problems of racism against Turks. The Scandanavian countries have immigration restrictions that even Western Europe does not. However they do let refugees in and there is some conflict because of that. What are the immigration policies of Latin America? Like Brazil or the coastal countries north like Guyana and Suriname or even Costa Rica? A good example of a country with less problems involving racism is New Zealand so what are their immigration policies?

My bad.

The Roma live in the EU so I think the borders of the EU are supposed to be open to all citizens of EU countries.

I like how France offers a path to citizenship through serving 3 years in the Foreign Legion, seems like something the United States could incorporate in some form of fashion imo.

there was a study about that recently, found that illegals were bad for france but narrowly good for the US, because they get way more benefits in france than they do in the US

edit: study was about immigrants in general

Probably. For the longest time undocumented people only heavily effected the border states, now the problem has spread nationwide. Its to little to late though, we have upwards of 30 million illegals here, and the kids they have are US citizens so the chances of deporting the parents is pretty much nil. They are all here to stay.

Viva Amexico!!! Time to learn Spanish, marry a hot mestiza woman and enjoy the ride!
that's not begging the question.

I can live with serving the US military in combat for 5 years at least with honor then you can be a US citizen. No community service bullcrap.

And absolutely no "go to school , graduate, and become US citizen". Hell, then 99% of Asians will come here and qualify for sure. :p

Citizenship for military service is a very good idea. However we have to make sure we avoid how the French do it and attract all sorts of shady characters.

i'm not talking about illegals, i'm talking about immigrants who come here on a student visa, and then are told to go back to their own country to work rather than being told they can stay and work.

would you rather them be US workers and taxpayers or start yet another company in india?
