Deodorant or Antiperspirant?

I think I started wearing antiperspirant (AP) back when I was 11 or 12. I switched to deodorant and never looked back around 1990 when I was 20. That is because AP has aluminum compounds that even back then I thought might be something to be concerned about. And people are supposed to take showers everyday, so a deodorant should do the job.

Deodorants only are like the French wearing cologne and perfume in lieu of bathing.

I use deodorant... I thought antiperspirants were cancerourzzz. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deodorant#Cancer

Anyway, I might try an antiperspirant.

I sweat like no other, but even without using deodorant (I refer to deodorant as the stick of stuff I use, like most sticks out there, has both D/AP as stated above), I don't really have much of a smell. Likely due to diet I'd imagine.
And when I use deodorant, I still sweat like crazy, but there is definitely no odor. Nothing I've tried yet has done anything to stop the water works. I could be shoveling snow at frigid temperatures, and I'll still break a sweat. I sweat walking to class. And no, I'm not some out of shape fattie. - 5'11" 165lbs, run 3 times a week for PT.

Deodorant. I use a salt stick, and it works well without any scent. You're supposed to sweat. I don't like overriding my body's cooling system.

My best friend works in a natural foods store and got me into using old spice classic, since hippie deodorants don't work but old spice deodorant is simple and effective. It's basically alcohol.

He says you should see autopsy's of armpits of people who used antiperspirant and it's all grey.

Agreed. Sometimes, around 5pm I have to refresh things by washing my armpits and reapplying deoderant. Now Im fresh all night.

Old Spice Red Zone specifically.

Seems to hold up over the whole day better than anything else I've ever tried.

I used to use antiperspirant but stopped for the same reasons.

Plus I've never been a big sweater.

Because some people's armpits break out in hives when antiperspirant is applied to them, like mine. My body is no temple; I don't shun antiperspirant because of "evil chemicals," but it apparently just isn't compatible with me. So even though I'd like to use it, I can't. I have to use regular deodorant. Still does the job, for the most part.

I don't want sweaty armpits or excessive perspiration. That means I use an antiperspirant. I don't want to cover up the stench, I want to stopped it from stinking in the first place.

At this point the antiperspirant / deodorant distinction is mostly meaningless. Many varieties of both types of products contain active metal ingredients.

Sure they're safe for everyday use, but there are lots of studies that link higher rates of Alzheimer's disease to exposure to metals, particularly aluminum.

AP+Deodorant.

Old Spice Red Zone AP makes my arm pits break out in hives, but only after using it for a few days. I was using 'Degree Invisible Solid' but I began to hate the way it smelled. I've been using this invisible solid Right Guard stuff now, but I don't like the smell or feel of it (it's kind of sticky and feels uncomfortable right after putting it on).
