Of course, you can never get a definition from them what constitutes being "rich".

Honestly, is there ANY economic, social, or fiscal problem that the Dems think can't be solved by raising taxes on the "rich"?

How can people fall for such simplistic, pandering drivel?

Isn't what you're suggesting similar to my saying:

"The Republicans' solution to a horrible job market and it's accompanying unemployment and underemployment is for affected Americans to shut up and take Prozac."

Really...supposedly a Republican campaign staffer said something very similar to that. (I think she said that during a telephone call and the recipient had his speaker phone on at the time with a reporter in the room, or something like that. It was published in several newspapers.)

From what I can tell, the Republicans don't have any solutions to the nation's economic problems. Rather, the Republicans are joyfully overseeing the transformation of the United States into a third world country, rampant with poverty. The Republicans support illegal immigration, mass immigration, foreign work visas (H-1B, L-1), and foreign outsourcing. They are traitors as far as I'm concerned...and that comes from a guy (me) who voted for Benedict Bush in 2000 thinking he'd be good for the economy. The Bush Administration deserves to go down in history as America's worst presidency for those reasons.

It's just as reasonable to say that Republicans' (or conservatives') solution to everything is to LOWER taxes on the rich.

Of course, you can never get a definition from them what constitutes too low a level of taxation - sometimes it seems they believe the rich should actually be paying LESS tax than everyone else.

Honestly, is there ANY economic, social, or fiscal problem that the Republicans think can't be solved by reducing taxes on the "rich"?

How can people fall for such simplistic, pandering drivel?

Illegal immigrants would drive down wages in the US, and hence would be seen as a very good thing by corporations/ businesses because it means they end up paying ordinary American citizens lower wages. I guess you'd get a similar effect of forcing wages down from all the other things you mentioned - foreign work visas, mass immigration, foreign work visas, etc.

I blame Jesus for my high taxes. He's the imbicile who said 'render unto Caesar' and gave the poor hope they could live off me. Sure he only meant I was to pay just a few silvers and not everything I have, but how are you going to explain to the poor that I know what my fair share is better than they. Somebody needs too turn that guy Jesus into the Dollar King. With his indifference to money we'd all be f@cked.

That is the cycle the U.S. used to have, now it's just select few amassing huge Kingdoms.

Funny considering that more than 80% of businesses are small business. While the owers are not fantastically rich, they are most likely much more well off than the average person.

If you want money in America you have to work for it. If you want a lot of money in America, you have to employ youself.

Ah a good post showing how the Rich are trying to justify the madness they have created.

So the entire Country should be nothing but individual contractors now.

Interesting since so many of the Republicans chastise me for doing just that the past year.

This troll bait post doesn't really deserve the time for a thoughtful answer. Even I don't want to waste my "worthless" time on such "simplistic, pandering drivel".

I disagree. The solution on everything isn't "shock and awe" like you might believe. Taxing the rich is just to make things more fair, the solution to everythingt is debate. And it tears my chest open when we can't have debates across political viewpoints.

Top 5% paid about 53% of the federal income taxes in this country.

Top 5 is indicated by having an income of 126K a year.

Drive the top 5% out of this country and tell me where you come up with their 53% of the total tax revenues?

I think being in the 95% percentile makes you rather elite and rich on top of it. But if you want to get picky the top 1% paid 34% of the taxes.

Lop off 34% of the tax revenue and let us know how you make that up?

Ill await further spin from you.

Please, the simple fact is if the rich left the middle class would have to come up with the 53% of the revenues that went with them.

Good luck with that.

If the top 1% leave, so will the special interest groups. I can live with that. It will help to build up the middle class, which right now is shrinking.

To middle class is what maintains the infrastructure of this country. Without it you have nothing.

lol how will you build up the middle class when they are stuck having to pay higher taxes due to the rich leaving?

Think about it for a second.

The top one percent has declared class warfare on us. But when we complain we're told we're engaging in class warfare.

Meanwhile they use generational warfare to divide us on Social Security.

Better off without them. They need us way more than we need them, IMO.

Pal, since your boy Bush got in their percentage of taxes has gone steadily down while ours have gone steadily up. While the richest U.S. corporations pay NO TAX AT ALL. As they send all the former middle class jobs to countries who have human rights records worse than Iraq's.

We're stuck paying higher taxes already.

Think about it for a second. Without the leeches draining the economy we'd probably be better off. Because the best kept secret of the rich and famous is; the real welfare system in the U.S. is the welfare system built and maintained by and for the very rich.

And don't forget to include ridiculous executive compensation and golden parachutes.

Ultimately we're paying for them too.

Why do you think they are sending jobs over seas?

Driving the rich out of the country wont help the middle class at all. It will put a higher tax burden on the middle class and possibly make the employment markets tough.

Last time I checked not many middle to low income people are employers.
