Liberals tolerant and loving as long as you agree with them. Do not agree with them and they will attempt to undermine your organization.

Why are democrats even around? Who in their right mind would support such and organization.

Please. The Catholic Church undermines govts all over the world, including our own. The Vatican is a nexus of international political power if to a much lesser degree than in the past or than they want. When it comes to women's rights, they're still atavistic. They oppose all forms of birth control other than abstinence, just for starters. They deny the priesthood to women.

Not to mention that, as the longest-standing highly-organized political organization in the known Universe (as well as being one of the longest-standing organized religious institutions), the Roman Catholic Church is well more than a match for any other organized group of almost any size and composition that doesn't have/can't or won't use bombers against it. I won't go so far as to say the modern Church actually thrives on this sort of thing, but I daresay they don't mind a little light practice before lunchtime to keep themselves on their toes.🙄/<roflmao>

The meek may inherit the Earth (at least allegorically, and/or at some future date TBA), but they sure as hell don't remain a fabulously well-financially-endowed force in geopolitics for more than a baker's dozen of centuries (and counting...), and "turning the other cheek" has never been high on the the Church's list of strategies for dealing with its critics and adversaries...😉

With the way the church covers for priests molesting altar boys, it is only natural that TRUE Catholics support a candidate that wants to bang his daughter and a 12 year old Paris Hilton.
Edit: To clarify I'm not putting an indictment on Catholics in general, though I found the way the church handled the molestation scandals leaving much to be desired. It is mostly just about me finding the OP's choice on candidate odd based on him posting about issues like this and women's rights (Iran chess thread).

It's certainly true that they haven't handed anyone over to "secular authorities" to obtain confessions of, and/or punishment for, heresy any time recently, but the specific Church office behind it - the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith - is actually very much alive and well...

Many of those expressing their views in the emails are either Catholic themselves or work with the church on many issues. I am a practicing Roman Catholic and I have been advocating these types of changes for years. I am far from alone. There are many of us that see abortion for the political red herring that it is (aside from moral issues) and recognize that the separation of church and state is good for both church and state. We are sick and tired of the "Reform of the Reform" group that has been lurching our church rightward aligning itself with the so-called "Religious Right" in an attempt to undermine the Vatican II reforms and subsequent changes. We see Humanae Vitae and much of the resulting misogynist teachings as fundamentally flawed and essentially null based on the doctrine of reception. If anything, many of us are liberals BECAUSE of our Catholic faith, not in spite of it. This whole narrative of "liberals undermining the church" is just complete hogwash to put it politely.

I can think of no other attitude toward TH than to be polite. Everybody can see that he is deep in the weeds and unamenable to reason. He is one of those unfortunates who deeply believes in the good but hasn't understood that just because the good is real doesn't mean he knows what it is. He is prideful and full of hubris because he hasn't seen that God asks us not to judge and to be forgiving because Satin is the true believer, the one who has absolute certainty that evil if good. TH suffers pain and will not bow his head and surrender to the abyss. He is full of hatred of evil instead of mercy and thereby has become the same thing. He has taken up the sword and swings it in a dream. May he find the peace of love and the understanding that all men intend good, that evil wears the name of good intentions.

I know nothing TH. Why do you suppose you need to be different than me? I died to all my certainties and gave up and in giving up I won. There is a good that can never be taken and needs on defense.

Was kinda funny growing up, I was basically Lutheran and my best friends in the neighborhood were Polish Catholics that attended private Catholic school till High School.

We had a weird little group that hung out.

We even played basketball talking about the Mexican immigration thing in the 70's, when we were not having BB guns fights etc.
