Democrats literally holding the government hostage to take your rights away

Repubs hold a majority in the HOR so all they have to do to end this is put it to a vote.

Too easy, huh?

HOR repubs just don't want to go on record as opposing gun reform. OTOH, they can't vote against it safely, so they obstruct, just like they have everything for 8 years.

Like no one has ever heard of someone on the GOP side standing up for about 24 hours straight reading from a book that had nothing to do with a topic just to keep the house in session just to block issues.

🙄

This is really an amazing thing to watch. The Democrats are taking a stand on a racist bill that would deny americans(mostly brown people) the right to the 2nd amendment without due process. They actually went to the hard right of the GOP on this.

This is actually sort of epic. Republicans cut the C-Span cameras off when it started and it only gained momentum from there.

What freedoms are they trying to take away?

Democrats are pushing for two measures, one that keeps people on the no-fly list from buying firearms and another that expands background checks.

Good luck you folks trying to spin this towards the Republicans' favor.

Like that would ever happen 🙂

Right and name the times that has happened recently? Rand Paul did it for reasons to keep govt in check. Democrats are doing it so people who are put on secretive govt lists are denied a constitutional right.

Those are "radical islamists" you are talking about. Why don't you use the term?

Your post was pretty amazing to read in its own right.

But, in this instance, he is correct. At least in the current SC interpretation of the 2nd amendment. If there exists an individual right to bear arms, then people on "no fly" lists would be denied a Constitutional right without due process.

The court will be perfectly able to take that up should the bill be passed & challenged (which of course it would be).

Passing patently unconstitutional laws is grandstanding at taxpayer expense.

Note that I disagree with the SC's interpretation of the 2nd as an individual right but that is the current prevailing interpretation and the proposal before Congress would clearly violate this right.
