"The fact remains that reid's little stunt was nothing more than a political stunt. He knew the status and just wanted to throw a fit. It's my contention he did so to try to get the ever willing press to get off the SCOTUS story which isn't helping the left and change the subject to something they can spin as "bad" for Bush. "

Wash, rinse, repeat... Offer up some shred of proof as to what Reid "knew" prior to the closed session that didn't emanate from the Repubs after the fact... Come on now, there's got to be something...

Roberts stated that people were informed on Monday about the progress. Call him a liar if you wish but it doesn't change what reids stunt was - a tantrum.

i think we can be assured that this administration will never be vindicated.
Don't be so sure of this...the American public is easily swayed, and public opinion is often a reflection of perception. Granted, there are a core group of voters that would hate Bush even if he cured AIDs and solved world hunger...but we will dismiss such blindly partisan concerns for a moment, and focus on the Republican core, and the more important independent thinking swing voters.

The reason this investigation is taking so long that the Democrats were forced to use such drastic measures is the same reason it took so long for the 9/11 investigation to begin. The Bush administration, already recognized by EVERYONE -- even their own -- as the most secretive administration in U.S history -- talks one game while they play another. JUST LIKE TREASONGATE!

Bush told the nation he supported the 9/11 investigation as he fought it tooth and nail to keep it from happening. Bush told the nation that he would FIRE anyone INVOLVED in Treasongate then reneged on that too.

The Democrats were forced to use Rule 21 because the Bush White House is full of nothing but LIARS, and the people who parrot these nonsense lies about investigations already completed which in fact have not even begun enable these criminals to commit grievous harm to our democracy.

A band of criminals from Texas has taken over our nation and the only people who could possibly support them are either too stupid to recognize what they are doing or are in collusion with them.

Enough is enough.

WTFU.

You can try to dismiss it as a "tantrum" or a "stunt," but it worked, and the Republican majority finally got enough of a boot up their asses that they had to commit to completing work they've been dragging out for months while revealing nothing.

If "vindicated" means proven right, no number of votes can change the fact that the Bushwhackos lied about the reasons for taking the nation to war. :|

At the original "Record Plant" recording studio in L.A., they had a button that said, "You can't polish a turd." :p

So says the Democrats.

Yes but the whole point of this investigation is did Bush lie about the reasons for taking us to war, or did he make a determination based on faulty intelligence, and is now stuck with scenario of having committed American forces to Iraq, with a withdrawal posing a greater threat to international stability and American security.

Personally, I think it is more a case of ineptitude and being impetuous then overt deception.

My take on all of this: Bush has had some issues yes, but the fact that he is generally honest bothers all of you dems because you are used to the dishonest like Clinton. So, Bush makes you feel exposed because he is honest. So what do you do? You try to marr him by trying to do ANYTHING to show otherwise, even being dishonest again to make him look dishonest.

So what would you prefer? Bush to tell everyone everything that he is doing? O great idea, now the terrorists know what to expect so they can avoid it, now the Iraqi insurgents know even more how to attack us where it hurts, etc etc etc.... Nice idea, love it!

BTW, check out the lib1, lib2, and lib3 links below, I think they are very descriptive and accurate

Flame me all you want, it won't bother me, and I'm not coming back here again to see what sort of nonsense you throw around some more - you guys drive me up the walls. I suppose that you'd prefer a Hussein over Bush huh?

Usually the simplest explanation is the correct one, not conspiracy theories. He's just as dishonest as the rest of the politicians.

I would prefer that he admit made a mistake.

It worked? What did they do in the "secret" session? Did it change the fact that phase 2 was estimated to be complete sometime next week? No, it was just a political tantrum and I'm confident that joe American will see it for what it was - a weak political stunt.

I'm just as confident that the average American will see it as Democrats fighting to get the truth out.

if this move was SO inconsequential as the Republicans are making it out to be, then why are there 10 pages already to this thread? why are they making this huge stink?

There are your 10 pages because there are leftists like you who keep trying to defend the stunt and have presented faulty information that needs corrected.

There are 10 pages because ShadesOfGrey keeps repeating herself over and over.

All Dems did is bring attention to the fight for the truth, and she can't take it.

As if you and your ilk haven't been trying to repeat the same BS over and over. Again, if they were fighting for the truth, why did they have to hide it with a secret session?

It's hilarious that you people can't even admit the obvious.

Btw, I'm not a she.

We already know that you're representing Reid's actions as a political stunt, Shades, while diligently and busily obfuscating your way around anything else that's pertinent. You've said the same thing over and over, ad nauseum. And you've poitedly ignored any information to the contrary.

You're starting to play like a broken record.

Well, if we discount efforts like attacking the source, and representing undocumented after the fact assertions as having some basis in truth. Why should we believe Roberts at all, particularly when his assertion that the Dems are holding up the proceedings is demonstrably untrue? When Dems document 20 occasions on which they've attempted to push it ahead? He assured Dems on Monday that the report would come out next week... probably for the umpteenth week in a row, judging form the results and the documentary evidence....

At some point or another, the tendency to partisanship over reason comes to the fore, and you're demonstrating that in ways that are becoming painful to witness, your comments becoming more repetitive and the ideological entrenchment more obvious with every iteration.

Which is, I suspect, part of the reason Reid chose this issue to pursue. It's definitely worth pursuing on its own merits, anyway, but the raving denial from the Right is an added spectacle sure to convince many of the moral bankruptcy of the current leadership...

Try to understand this one more time. The Republican controlled senate is stonewalling the investigation into Bush's pre-invasion lies about Iraq. The senate Democrats, being in the minority, don't have the votes to force the senate Republicans (who are stonewalling said investigation at the behest of the Bush White House) to investigate. So Senator Harry Reid invoked Rule 21.

Apparently it worked because the Republicans are being forced to report on their failure to investigate by November 14. And that's why people like you keep repeating this bullsh!t about "secret" senate sessions. Your lying senate leadership has been out maneuvered and all you Republibots just can't live with that fact.

OK, now you're just being plain stupid. You're pi$$ed that your "leadership" was b!tch-slapped by Harry Reid. Go cry me a river. You got your a$$es handed to you and you'll just have to learn to live with that. ;)

Until you do, just keep squealing "political stunt" -- in reality that phrase is the perfect description of the entire Bush administration.

Bush's Job Approval Hits New Low

President's 35 Percent Job Approval Rating At Its Lowest Point Ever

Why don't you "GAGgle" on that? ;)

ok can we all agree to stop arguing over whether or not this was a politically motivated stunt? this discussion is pointless and getting us nowhere. i say we respectfully agree to disagree on this issue, especially since it's such a minor and insignifcant one.
