Hibachi Ryder the predictable concern troll brings the heat with his totally original "both sides do it!" argument...

It implies we need to do something about our broken immigration system and the exploitation of Mexicans in a system that perpetuated their status as part of a shadow economy?

Obama & the Dems have tried to do that for some while. Repubs are having none of it. Well, none of it that makes sense, anyway. They strive to keep it nicely screwed up for both practical business & political purposes. American business loves illegal labor precisely because they're illegal. Illegals have no rights & they know it, act accordingly.

On immigration, neither party has a clue, because both seek to exploit the newest waves either politically or economically.

It will go up, but primarily among disenchanted Trump supporters. He is truly their last hope, and he'll screw them big time.

1: Sit them down for a viewing of Inequality For All.
2: Let them realize how much better valued their parent's and grandparent's labor was.
3: Point out the obvious destination when mixing Capitalism with modern technology and global economies.
4: Vow sweeping economic change to restore the American people. A new(er) deal ever bigger than the first.

You must promise nothing less than economic revolution. And for that you will have people's undivided attention.
And the loyalty of a new generation.

With Trump as president, comprehensive immigration reform and the path to citizenship for illegals is likely dead.

Which means fewer D votes.

Different degrees of bad. Where they sit relative to one another on the axis is irrelevent as they are both on the negative side of the origin.

And what's "bad" about Dem proposals? Well, other than the "rewarding bad behavior" song & dance. I mean, if St Ronnie could do it, why can't modern Repubs?

Hell- Dems would settle for permanent resident status for the parents of American children & others who've been here a long time & kept their noses clean. We'd also settle for work visas for migrant farm workers, as well.

Perhaps in the long run. Unless you're a believer in the notion that millions of illegals vote.

And more "they're just as bad!"
Let me fix it for you. Democrats are a bunch of fucked up assholes, far worse in their exploitation of illegal immigrants and their attempts to use them politically as well as economically for added power in this country. There ya go Jhhnn, happy now?

Heh. I must be getting too close to the truth for the comfort of trolls.

Or are you talking about St Ronnie's actions of 30 years ago? He wasn't a Democrat, iirc....

I'm just happy that the Democratic parties exploitation of illegal/criminal/undocumented immigrants backfired so badly on them.

Unfortunately it's going to take another Great(er) Depression to get a New(er) Deal. Average people don't learn from documentaries, they learn from suffering.

We've already had something pretty close to a Great Depression occur, but they had learned if you fleece the people too hard there is nothing to take later.

I predict there is another one in the works atm.

Anyone that thinks Trump was offering anything remotely like a New Deal is in for a rude wake up call.

They said the same a few years ago about the Republicanis. How they were going to have a bleak future because of the rising Spanish population. And, that the nation was going left. And, the Republicanis were out of touch with the "new America." And, whites were losing power. Etc...

Look at what happened. The lesson? We just don't know because things change so quickly.

That is not why you don't know.

The call of the Alt Right trolls seems to be strong in this thread.

Personally I think they do a public service by demonstrating proximity to the rest of the GOP crowd. Always illuminating when conservatives show zero dismay and if anything only cozy up to the klan figures.

I expect the mid-terms to be interesting and predict 8-10 democrat senate seats will be lost. From there, the future of the democrats depends on how well Trump's presidency goes. If he fails, they'll be able to mount a strong comeback, but if things turn out well, it's gonna be a while. The Republicans are in their strongest position, across the board, since the late 1920s. We'll see how it goes.

Let me give you the next two years (as we're already seeing it play out, predictably):

Dems: Full TDS. Whine constantly, nod up and down at each other how right they are and how much they agree with each other.

Media ("News" channels): Pretend objectivity while scraping as much ratings as possible, getting in anti-Trump/anti-Rep message whenever possible.

Media (Hollywood, New Yawk): Full onslaught temper tantrum, Intellectual head nodding, anti-Trump/anti-Rep overt and subterfuge in content, etc.

Reps: Blow it like usual because they're as corrupt as the Dems.

There, I've saved you 'seeing how it goes'.

LOL alt right, what will the embarrassed Intellectuals think of next... :D

It's been a pretty common term in usage for years now, perhaps you should keep up with things if you are going to comment on forums.

Trump is going to take the Cheney/Haliburton thing to a whole new level I'm predicting, and he is not even in office yet.

He is not draining any swamps, he has been actively stocking it in his favor for political favors, and he has not even taken the oath yet.

He's a pretty devote Christian though, maybe he can chuck some money in the communion plate again :p

I'll give him props for the biggest con man in history vote atm.

I'll have to read up on it then. I just figured it was a term invented/co-opted by the Intellectuals so they could rationalize why Billary lost the EC when they were head nodding at each other for months how bad the beat down was going to be (and I for other reasons agreed with them). Alt-Righting into Google...
