I'm glad someone else noticed the irony.....the parties have acually done a flip-flop since that time. Hope was actually bashing conservatives.

Well, not entirely. There was a liberal arm of the Dems back then, then there were the "dixiecrats" who were Southern Democrats. Very conservative and segregationists.

Remember, FDR was a dem, and a socialist. So while they have changed, they were still strongly socialist back then, as well.

I know, I was generalizing but young people do not usually see how much the parties have evolved over the last century and I realized Bob Hope was talking about totally different Democrats then what we see today...as did you.

True, but even after the changes, Hope continued to lean Republican, even though he remained friendly with every president since FDR.

It is funny, really funny and not far from thr truth which makes it even funnier. If you want to identify a future Democrat while sitting in class just look for the people gobbling up everything the professor says and then regurgitating it like it is the gospel.....so yes in a way they are zombies because they don't think for themselves.

I do not understand how this is limited to democrats.

Professors are overwhelmingly Democrats and liberals. They teach with an agenda because it is the entire liberal system that keeps them in food.....if they produced they would be in the real world not acedemia. It is easy to pick up on if you have a brain and apply the logic test to the info you are being told. Those that don't believe whatever the prof says and as a result they tend to become liberals and thus Democrats.

in my 4 years in college i learned professors are idiots.

The Republican Party is the group that replaced the pro-slavery Wig's just before the civil war took off. Abe Lincoln was the First Republican ever.

Last I checked just about all of my professors are scientists currently working in their field, and teaching on the side, same as any research univ. If thats what you think of professors, then youve probably never been to college.

It doesn't take research, studies, etc. to find out that most college professors are liberal, and so are the students.

The liberal side of the government likes to pay colleges grants, fund research, etc..and high school teacher's salaries are dependant on the liberal side of the gov. too.

Go to almost (military schools wouldn't fit in to this) any college around election time and see what side the kids are voting for. It doesn't take a college professor to put 2 and 2 together.

He's from Texas, that should be enough don't you think. I don't know what kind of professors he's had, but I haven't ran into any left wing teachers pushing their own agendas. Although there is this one professor who keeps mentioning his relationship with god in class. I mean really, what's the difference between these brain dead dems you're talking about and the brain dead religious morons that shove their beliefs down other people's throat.

Where am I going with this, I have no idea. Ronstang does have a nice collection of beautiful cars though.

Wow - you actually think that way, don't you? Like you don't know any rich, self-made Democrats who have worked their a$$ off? I know a hell of a lot. My best friend (MBA from Sloan School at MIT, cum laude) is in the process of cashing out of his pharma startup in NJ, just bought a house for his family in FL, and is moving down their - to become a teacher! And, oh yeah, he's liberal as they come...

He's doing it because he loves to teach, and because he's made enough money to easily support his family for the rest of his life. Because - he produced. Probably far more than you ever will, monetarily, and quite possibly effort-wise (a man who worked across 3 continents for nearly 10 years starting his business).

I won't even get into my own politics, as an ex-Reaganite, ROTC in high school and college, IT executive who has delivered many large, successful projects - but I hate Bush and his kleptocratic cronies. (Liked his dad, though) Really, your worldview seems just a little, well, simplistic...that whole "you're either with us or against us" deal, huh? That's for 12 year olds playing in the backyard, not for adults...
