Hey I am mostly on your side here with this. The problem is not with dems or republicans. This problem has been overlooked by both parties and presidents for decades. There is nothing that can be done on a mass scale reasonably priced or effective concerning those already here.

There is no way we're going to get rid of the illegals already here...America et al doesn't have the stomach to do what it would take to get the ones here out.

The best we can do is:

1. Secure the border militarily by force. If that means women and kids entering illegally are incinerated, crippled, etc. so be it...that was their choice. Those leaving the US are not harmed.

2. Once #1 is done, legalize all illegals. Only they are legal. Their families who are not here have to go through the immigration process, however long that takes. If they want to be with their families, they can go visit on their time off, or leave.

3. Punish those hiring illegals.

If we cannot do the above 3 things, don't even bother trying anything else, because nothing short of the above will stop the flood.

This is a flat out lie. Arizona has shown how we can go about attacking the problem by actually enforcing the law on the books even at a state level. Amnesty is not an answer period. Granting amnesty would just encourage more illegals to come in hopes that amnesty is granted again by those who throw up their arms and gave up before on actually enforcing our immigration laws.

They also claim to support environmental concerns. If so, then why are they trying to increase the nation's population? Also, how the hell do they expect to pay for the huge amount of social welfare costs that will be generated--more money needed for housing for the poor, welfare, education for the children of poor families, health care for the poor, etc.

I wish they would get their heads out of their asses and start looking out for the interests of the American people. I hate the Republicans, but I don't care for the Democrats much either. I suspect that a great many Americans feel the same way for similar reasons.

Not with #2. Do you remember we did exactly that in the mid 80s. Amnesty for ILLEGALS. Ask yourself the question. Is the ILLEGAL immigration problem getting worse or better? Can't expect to get better result if we continue to do the very same thing, again.

Good luck with that. So many companies depend on immigrant labor you'd be talking about a serious upset to the status quo in border states and many further up. We're not talking about small construction or landscape companies here either; I'm talking about large, billion dollar organizations that deeply depend on immigrant labor.

True story: I had a client, one of the biggest retailers in the world (figure it out) that heavily leveraged nurseries distributed around the country. These nurseries were the "victims" of predatory pricing ("rollback pricing" -- oops) and were forced to use almost entirely immigrant labor.

Long story short, my company was brought on to resolve rampant fraud that occurred by these laborers. One guy would show up, clock in for his entire group of friends/family while the rest slept at home. We tried to institute "modern identity systems" (biometric) and were marginally successful, but in the end the laborers would destroy these systems and find ways to disrupt them, including pouring beer on them.

In the end, the companies lost and simply couldn't control the tide of laborers that refused to follow suit.

Moral of the story: It's so part of our corporate culture now that I don't see any way out. Too many financial interests would be compromised, especially those smaller towns that are kept afloat by largely blue collar work with only a company or two. Good luck with that.
