Turns out Hakeem Jeffries and other senior house Democrats got the few younger Democrats that stood up and walked out during Trump's speech, and gave them a Stern talking to about misbehaving.

Fuck the Democratic party. The leadership sucks. And now they're trying to shut down the few who actually get it. And Bernie gets it. And I'm starting to believe that those emails that leaked from the DNC that were talking shit about Bernie, were really actually just the tip of the iceberg, and the Democratic consultant corporate class definitely tried to shut him down.

Fuck the corporate Democrats. Fuck them all. The leadership now is verifying all the worst accusations against them.

Which is, there was nothing overtly wrong about it, but it didn’t actually do anything to ameliorate this core issue Democrats face, which is voters aren’t quite sure what we stand for and would like us to get back to the basic principles of the party.”

Because political parties are extremely weak in the United States, and pretty much any douche can run on the D or R line in accordance with state laws. They can't "kick out" people that are not toeing the party line, and they can't have the same kind of central coordination to control party messaging. Republicans have only been able to benefit because some billionaires run large, independent propaganda wings to launder their elite opinions.


On top of it all, messaging doesn't just spread on its own. You need media and people to pick it up and share it. Sadly, there is a good contingent of people in the media and on social media who focus only on the bad things a few Democrats and treat Republicans as an agency-less force of nature, instead of highlighting where the larger portion of Democrats who are holding a line, and are speaking out. But when select Democrats do bad things, definitely follow up with them specifically and call them out. And definitely help primary the ones that should probably be primaried. But I don't think it's worth yelling at all Democrats because Gavin Newsom or Tom Suozzi decided to be dipshits all on their own.

Be more like Midas Touch and less like Politico.

Feckless maybe, “too little too late” perhaps, but “scumbag” is a bit strong. What do you expect him to say?

I think Dems have a hard time of finding the balance between “outraged” and “unhinged”…probably because the right wing mediasphere has done such a good job of labeling anything they say as “unhinged”.

I agree with what he said. I thought Columbia had already disciplined Khalil for any violation of university policies and I thought he was suspended. Frankly, I’m surprised he was still in university housing (not sure if his wife is still with the university?) DHS needs to show us the warrant for his arrest and what crimes he’s being charged with. What judge signed off on his arrest order? What evidence were they shown? If none of those things happened, his arrest and detention are illegal.
 
As I read this thread and the resentment and anger, frustration and hopelessness it expresses, one simple observation I believe to true keeps coming back to my attention and just now a story popped into my mind.

One day when Mulla Nasrudin was carrying a crate of chickens to market their weight became a struggle for him, so he had an idea. He put the crate down and opened it so the chickens could walk on their own two feet. However, as he proceeded to walk away with the expectation they would follow, they scattered instead. So he called out to them, “How is it that you know when the sun will rise but you don’t even know where I’m going.”
