The Democratic party DID pass up that chance in 2020. She is/was a terrible candidate.
Yea, but she wasn't sitting VP in 2020. In any case, the remark was meant somewhat in jest, but I do think the dem establishment would have tried to push through her nomination. Whether the delegates would have rebelled and nominated someone else is something we will never know. Point is though, I think the Dems need to carefully examine their policies and messaging, not just blame their lack of success on the candidate. They clearly have lost the working middle class and the rural voters. Now they seem to be hemorrhaging support in nearly every demographic.

Fat chance of that. Jeffries was immediately doing an appearance with Liz Cheney right after they blew an election that should have been a layup and then fucking Biden gave her a medal. They're still going to take the left for granted and still try to chase ungettable republican voters.

You're making a big mistake if you think voters are not at all persuadable.

Yes, some are complete, unmitigated shitheads. But there are plenty of other voters who are generally clueless, and you need to perform for them. We saw this dynamic work quite successfully in the first Trump administration, where they basically couldn't get anything done and the House then flipped after 2 years. Most voters don't have some coherent policy ideas in their heads. They're mostly "I want all my groceries in one bag, but don't make it too heavy."

"The left" is just not a huge voting block, and there aren't a bunch of secret socialists just waiting to be activated.

Funny how it was most of the working class back when the Democrats had a genuine center left leader in FDR.
Great. We have some ideas of how politics should work from 90 years ago. I'm sure that will bring great insight to today.

America doesn't have ideas of "working class" in some Marxian sense, as much as some people keep trying to push it (you're not going to make fetch happen). And the idea of focusing on "kitchen table" issues by Democrats has clearly been a failure because people have not responded to policy. They were not going to respond better if you did just a bit more policy and talking about the table.

You actually need consistent, across the board messaging about corrupt Republicans. Leaders need to appear to be genuinely mad about whatever issue is coming up. We don't know what will go viral in the fractured media environment, but be mad about it all. And make it clear that the voters have permission to be mad too. It's performance for the greater good.

Please explain to us how Trump's policies (then and now) are actually better for the working/middle class than (D) policies.

People fooled themselves into thinking something, but we will all live with the consequences.

Delegates are pledged to honor the will of primary voters; they weren't going to coup a nomination for Kamala Harris just because the "establishment" said so. It's not the 2016 setup where you had hundreds of superdelegates.

We're less shitty than Republicans has been a trainwreck of a platform this century. Also LOL the idea that the US should at least try to be a social democracy being dismissed as politics from 90 years ago. Never change, Captain Neolib.

"Genocide is the intentional destruction of a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group." That sure sounds to me like what HAMAS wants to do to Israel. Or maybe you think they will just ask nicely and Israel will say "ok, we give up. We on longer want to exist as a nation."
So you sorta know what genocide is, but can't see what is happening in Gaza. Hilarious and tragic.

The Palestinians should just peacefully protest and march around getting nothing accomplished as Israel steals Palestine away from them.

well now they can say they tried the minority and woman thing (again) and then laser focus on putting up a straight white male christian candidate because the reality is that is what it will take to win in 2028.

If we're being honest with ourselves, both groups have expressed interest in genociding the other. That may not necessarily expand outside the region (depending on which individual you're talking to) but there's a fair number of guns in that area with people behind them that wouldn't mind if whoever's on the other side of a perceived border just didn't exist anymore.

Or maybe stop with the crap neolib candidates beholden to corporate money. I hear so much about how the DNC lost Mexican-American voters due to Mexican machismo after running a pro LGBT woman yet Mexico's president is a center left pro LGBT woman who won in a landslide a few months ago.

This is not about what people want, this is about what is literally happening. Israel is wiping Gaza off the map. This is a genocide. Your rationalizing something that is not happening while ignoring the literal genocide happening is sick in the head.

Both sides have expressed interest.

One side has the military and political power to do it and has been doing it.

This isn't even a question.

Exactly. I could be wrong, but I don't think anybody here is defending Hamas. They are a terrorist org, and in an ideal world, they would be defeated once and for all.

What Hamas is NOT is a top 5 military in the entire world. Hamas may desire for a Palestine "from the river to the sea," but they have no actual ability to destroy Israel.

It goes without saying that Hamas and its Oct. 7 strike do not absolve Israel of their vengeful and unlawful response and historical actions.

I mean it really is this simple. But people are sick in the head. They will defend the actual real life genocide happening done by Israel who has wanted to do this for ages, by blaming those who are just thinking about it but not doing it. It's a mental illness of the most evil kind.
