All I'm hearing out of this convention is social injustice, income inequality, how thugs are somehow victims. Illegals need to be protected from deportation. Universal healthcare. LGBTQ rights. The race card. The victim card. The woman card. All fine and good, those things need to be addressed and we have laws on the books that protect all those various classes. I'm hearing a lot of catering to the entitlement crowd, typical of the Democrats, as of late. What they're not talking about is bothering me and why I think Hillary is going to lose.

I'm not hearing about the things the angry electorate cares about.
Where are the flags?
Where is the patriotism?
Where is the rallying for the USA?
What about defeating ISIS?
Where is the talk about border control?
What about enforcing immigration laws?
Where is the talk about ending sanctuary cities?

It would be nice if you provided some kind of evidence for that fact. Are you saying that ICE officers don't ask people arrested about family? Or that, if the van came to take mom and dad away, and they insisted to have their daughter with them, they would refuse?

Why? Is reality too harsh? Abstraction & depersonalization too easy an alternative?

Each and every baby born in this country is a citizen *by definition*. The 14th amendment lays it out as black letter law. It's been that way for almost 150 years.

As a nation, we have obligations to those children, the first of which is to treat them with equanimity. That really extends to not deporting any of their parents because of residency status. I think American children, all of them, should have that right. They're ours & we should do the best we can for all of them.

Bonus points for pumping out a kid just to use as an anchor if you get caught."

If someone's been in the US long enough to raise kids to some age, it's not uncommon that they had or developed some sort of support network. For example it might well be other illegal immigrants or whatever they have some implicit pact with.

Regardless, this requirement for "vast majority of cases" is odd since I'm pretty sure nobody ever made that claim in the first place.

Generally I'd imagine parents don't like the idea of leaving their children alone in another nation with non-family. In the scenario described by Clinton of Trump's policies, there would be no other illegals to live with because Trump kicked them all out and broke those family ties.

You were taking issue with my use of fear-mongering, which I assumed involved the usual exaggeration component of the word. I'm saying that the scenario that people like to lay out with children being split from their parents is unrealistic, because parents have the option of taking their dual-citizenship children with them until they become legal residents themselves.

It's actually a point of contention that a population can actually rebel in the modern era. As we saw in Egypt and Libya it's not impossible, but had significant parts of the military of both countries not gone over to the rebels we'd almost assuredly have seen the movements in those countries crushed like they were in Iran or currently are being in Syria.

Around 40% (according to Rubio) of illegal immigrants DID enter the US legally. They stayed after their visas expired.

And in the meantime, the whole country should rework the 14th amendment through the proper ways put in place to function more as it was originally meant, not as a loophole for creating anchor babies. The idea is outdated and should be addressed logically.

I don't think you know how it was originally meant, since it's functioning the way it was intended. They weren't stupid enough to not have considered the concept of "anchor baby" back then. For as ambiguous and open to interpretation some of the Amendments are, there really is no ambiguity to the way this was written: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."
