Democratic National Convention thread

Probable highlights of this week:
Monday night (tonight) - Bernie Sanders gets his turn at speaking, right on the heals of the scandal. Will Bernie hold a grudge, or will Bernie do what's right for the party? It's expected that he will NOT pull a Cruz.

Also tonight: Michelle Obama gets to speak. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the Right is going to pull her speech apart and attempt to paint her as negatively as possible in retaliation for the Melania incident.

Tonight's speakers all appear to be positive speakers, rather than negative speakers attacking the Republicans, in sharp contrast to the tone of the RNC.

Tuesday Night: looks like a few speakers talking about the positive impacts Hillary made while Senator in NY, education, and health care/insurance. Plus, Bill Clinton speaking.

Wednesday Night highlights:
Bloomberg (probably with how well a Democratic senator worked with a Republican mayor)
Joe Biden
Obama
Plus, some gun violence stuff & things Hillary did for the military.

Thursday night highlights:
unequal pay, Muslims who have served in our military and died defending our country, Chelsea Clinton, and Hillary Clinton

Prediction! Michelle Obama will plagiarize Melania Trump's speech. #2 Debbie Wasserman Schultz will not have a keynote speech at the DNC. She spoke at a Florida delegate meeting and they roundly booed her. Some shouted Shame! Shame! Shame!, reminiscent of an iconic Cersei walk scene in Game of Thrones.

It won't just be Michelle, it will be every speaker for the duration of the convention for any string of three words or oft repeated platitudes. This is of course barring any events that are actually newsworthy like the train coming off the rails, or the violence that never manifested in Cleveland despite firearm saturation.

I expect you are correct and Bernie will knuckle under to the beast.

You are more than likely correct on this, and it is still not even worth discussing over commonly used phrases in speeches.

Bloomberg is not a republican and never was in actuality only in name. His policies speak for themselves.

Unequal Pay is a myth.

LOL, the first facebook complaint has hit my feed - 3 Trump supporters complaining about a choir singing.

Look at the pictures of the audience for the RNC. Now look at the pictures of tonight's DNC. At the RNC you saw people over forty, that did not need to be bused in, they were educated, had raised families, had jobs, were veterans from WWII, to now, were well dressed, and came with their own patriotic regalia, many were retired, they did not, inside, or outside incite violence, and no one was looking for a hand out. Those were the people that built, supported, and fought for America.
Look at the crowd tonight, see the difference? 😀

Well so far they are living up to their claim that the speakers will be more positive than those at the RNC were.

You're assuming an awful lot based on appearance, but hey I guess where you stand depends on where you sit.

But if we're going to play that game:

I watched the RNC and I saw a bunch of older white people who looked like uptight assholes.

Watching the DNC I see a diverse group (age and ethnicity) of people who actually look like they aren't miserable jerks.

some illegal immigrant speaking. DNC cant even find American citizens to talk at the DNC?

Next up, Michael Brown's "mom" whose son tried to kill a cop. Because that's so cool!

I do like how the DNC had to erect a wall outside the place and then erect another between the audience and the podium.

But wait, walls don't work, do they?

The Bernie rage due to leaked emails... Are the protesters actually surprised? Just look at the Super Delegates who mostly went with Hillary before the primaries were done.

It's hilarious. It's even so much better given DWS' bullshit tweets last week.

I've honestly never watched any convention, don't affiliate with any party. But seeing about 5 minutes of Al Franken and Sarah Silverman, I can't imagine that any convention, from either party have ever had that sort of response.

Turd Sandwich vs. Giant Douche indeed.

How two of the most vilified candidates ever got to the finals boggles the mind.

Ron Paul 2012!

listened a bit on CSPAN, when i heard the illegal immigrant who is now in politics I did an eyeroll....and to anyone saying today wasn't negative clearly you weren't listening, it was a dump on Trump slamfest.

walls are only for important people. just like laws. Hilary proves that over and over again.

Cop killers and felony's are a key democratic voting blocking. In Virginia they'd tried like heck to get more of them to vote.
