Democratic Convention - who is watching?

Now if this convention turns out like the last one in Chicago…1968…I’ll probably watch some news coverage of the riots.

I ditched cable, so not really sure how I could watch it. Anyway, I don't care to. Not big on these big dog and pony shows--including the "debates". I'll catch up on the highlights and analysis later. Nothing that happens there would possibly affect my vote or my enthusiasm to vote.

I am sure it will be streamed.

YEs I'm not planning on watching it live the whole time it is on but I will be trying to catch a few speakers live, and then stream a few others.

I have no interest in watching but I do have an interest in having it on multiple devices with the sound muted if that will drive up viewership numbers and make the convicted felon go more bizzonkers.
If that helps, I'll tune all of our TVs to it and pull it up on streaming to boost the numbers. Anything to help quicken his descent into madness.

No TV or videos of any kind for me. Post cool quote snippets here if you will (in text only) and let me know if TayTay does a walk on to spit in Donny's face.

The '68 convention introduced the world to MC5 so not all bad. The band played for over eight hours straight as none of the other scheduled acts took the stage.

I'll pop in here or there. Probably listen to Biden's speech.

I have a very, very small fear of Biden going scorched earth. I know that is very unlikely but I'll still be relieved when he is done.

My only other concern is with the Gaza protesters. Hopefully that all remains peaceful.

Guess I'm a little gun-shy about what is possible and not possible in politics after the last 8 years.

Chicago (Graham Nash song) - Wikipedia

The line "Won't you please come to Chicago just to sing?" refers to Nash pleading with bandmates Stephen Stills and Neil Young to come to Chicago to play a benefit concert for the Chicago 8 defense fund. The chorus contains the lines, "We can change the world / Rearrange the World".

The title and lyrics of the song refer to the anti-Vietnam War protests that took place during the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago and the subsequent trial of the Chicago Eight, where protest leaders were charged with conspiracy to incite a riot.

The Whole World is Watching! The Whole World Is Watching! (A song by the band "Chicago")

I will various watch and listen. I'm not missing it. The only thing that interests me more would be any new poll showing Harris/Walz pulling away from Trump/Vance.

If you're interested in reviewing the history of the 1968 Convention and "riot", I recommend an "Independent Lens" (PBS) episode entitled "Chicago 10". Rules prohibited cameras inside Judge Hoffman's courtroom, so the makers of "Chicago 10" obtained the court transcripts and produced an animation of the courtroom proceedings. This was interspersed with news footage and interviews before, during and after the demonstration.

Produced in 2007, "Chicago 10" is quite a treat if you're interested in history.

I decided to put it on in the background just to hear a little bit of it. But I won't watch too much. I'll probably watch Biden's speech at some other point, since it's on late tonight (Eastern Time).

I will look for interesting clips. I am probably too interested in what Kinzinger has to say. He was a pretty vocal opponent of Trump and hopefully has abandoned the GOP.

I have arranged my entire week to stay away from the city. Traffic looked rough this morning but not "snow storm traffic" bad.
