Hey, anyone got one of those 50% off coupons? Looking to try this but don't want to pay full price since I've never even played DOTA. Would be much appreciated.

Downloaded this game Friday night, seems pretty good. Some problems accessing the MP system but hopefully that's just a password issue.

Only played as the thorn queen or whatever so far.

Hmm think I either saw you in IRC for DG or played with you or maybe it was a similar name to yours, I'm Krall on DG.

The singleplayer mode isn't very enjoyable. Tournament mode on hard basically pits you against hard ai's while giving you a team of easy ai's and you win by having the high score despite losing most of the games. skirmish might entertain for a few games but I don't think its worth the purchase price without multiplayer.

Thanks, that's good to know. How long does an MP game usually take? Or what is the range between a fast game and one that goes to the wire?

for me it seems like the larger maps yield shorter games. sometimes a match might be over in 15-20 minutes or last longer than an hour, depending on the map and the skill of your opponents

Mine are going for about :45 mins. I have the opposite problem the small maps end fast because I usually end up in a game with 2 Regulus DGs sniping my teammates to no end :D

And SP stinks if you plan to play MP. It's alright to learn classes but I've never played a game with such drastic differences between SP & MP. It's like night and day for sure.

The best counter for the rook is regulus. Don't bother with snipe, focus on mines, angelic fury, and range. Be very aggressive in attacking his towers once you get the first range upgrade, use mines to kill his towers as well, and harass him with your main attack every chance you get. Make sure to get scale mail helmet and gloves of brutality at the start of the game. Heart of life should be on your list as well in order to spam mines and heal. Having the -15% cooldown flag helps to spam mines and stop rook from spamming towers. Gl.

This game is fricking hard.. I am such a noob at RTS' and thought something like this without microgament would be easier but I still feel noobish. Are there any guides out there like what skills/items to get first?

I just started playing this game 2 weeks ago and I am really enjoying it.
I have few questions regarding the multiplayer mode.

1. If your opponents quit early in the game, do you have to stay on to receive those favor points?

2. Trophy items, are they bought using favor points from the winning games? How many games do you have to win to get the best item? I currently have the 800health+ item

3. How do you check your mates and opponent's stat? How do you ban someone?

4. The matches seem to be uneven as there is no random selection (just joining the game option), and some may have better trophy items thus just stomping you.

thanks!

btw, I think the demigods are uneven in strength. For instance, Oak just plain suck.

tiduz,
It is very immature for you to bad mouth your mate, no matter how bad he was.
It's only a game and you prob hurt his feelings.

When I first started this game, I was horrible...died at least 22 times in one game, feeding them. At one point we lost almost all the flags, but my mates stood by me and didn't cus me out. One actually bought a nice armor for me to suit. We ended up winning the game (major comeback) and I thanked my mates for being so patient and not quitting. They taugh me how to play thru the chat and I eventually picked it up toward the end of the match.

I hope you do the same in the future.

I play games to win though dude, so when people drag me down I don't appreciate it. I recently quit playing DG but got up to rank 14 before I did. Still in top 20 now, http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/rankings/customgame/

Phyce (#1), Zanobi (#2), and myself did a few 3v3's and it was common for us to kill 2 of the 3 heroes immediately. Stomps are a lot of fun imo.

1) Yes, someone has to stay in the game and finish it. I suggest running past their towers, taking one of their portals and the 2 towers guarding it, and going straight for the citadel

2) Yes. If you play a lot you'll get the items you want very quickly. Most people use the swift anklet in 99% of games, and its pretty cheap.

3) Can't ban people yet. You can check others stats on the website I linked above, by going to pantheon and then typing in their name.

4) The thing about oak sucking, I just have to tell you man, as someone who played this game day in and out winning 20+ games in a row, playing with the best and against the best, the Oak is one of the best heroes and likely the best 1v1 hero. Phyce who is ranked #1 uses Oak almost exclusively.

1. I believe you do.
2. A lot of people consider the 800 hp item to be the best one. I usually use the teleport one or the -cooldown one. It depends on what you're trying to do with your hero. When I first started I had a lot of success using the cheap +xp item with rook though I'm not sure that was the optimal thing to do at the time
3. The demigod website has the pantheon section where you can search players names and see their histories.
4. Most expensive favor items aren't necessarily the best for the situations you may be in and the difference certainly wouldn't result in you being stomped. There is a problem with team stacking for someone who has no friends. Custom games they can just outright do it, and in the random team up options there's people who queue together and cancel out of the matchup if they aren't grouped together since you can see the matchup before the game launches.

On the note of #4 is there an anandtech group or something?

Click the impulse icon in the upper left of the program. Somewhere in there you can change it.

The only class I struggle with playing as Regulus is when going head to head against Erebus any strats/suggestions? Erebus' end up being speed demons mid game esp. with the huge HP eater when Erebus performs that nasty vampire bite and then reduces the speed of said person running away from Erebus and ultimately dying in the process of returning to base while getting pounded on. I normally go with anklets, the 1k 10% speed increase boots and finally getting the 6.7k journeyman boots that increases speed by 50% with a 10% chance of activation when taking hits. I can't figure out if using mines/mark/slow is a good way to combat against Erebus or snipe/slow/mark/angelic.

The games fun. I don't regret getting it for 20$, but the online aspect, which is pretty much the entire game, of it is in serious need polish. If it was as it was but with WarIII's b.net backing it, it would be incredible.

I have another question regarding the trophy item. Does equipping one cost favor points each and every game? Or once you buy, is it in your storage to choose per game?
