There was a man from Delta Force that came to speak at my college in 2001/2 when I was a freshman. He'd actually been in Mogadishu in '92-'93, and was one of the toughest-looking men I've ever seen - was dressed in full uniform, barrel-chested...not the kind of guy you'd want to have a run-in with. He was one of the guys who held the .50 cal machine gun behind all the troops and sprayed rounds at those crazed Somalians. His stories felt like they were from another planet in that Mogadishu was much worse than Black Hawk Down made it out to be...gj Hollywood. For the movie he was actually called up and asked to explain a lot of the stuff that happened - and telling a story about having 3 "loose" fingers in his pockets which were re-attached to a fellow soldier's hands later.
I vote Delta Force...Seals and Rangers are tough but I think Delta is considered the "elite".
I keep telling my buddy that I think Delta Force is the best of the best. He insists S.E.A.L's are. I think SEALS are a very close second but still think Deltas are more elite.

Delta Force used to be very secret tha the Army used to refuse to acknowledge its existence. Yes they knew it existed, but since Delta basically rivaled the Rangers, Army was pissed and didn't want to officially acknowledge that there was another special forces team that could do basically the same things....
what do you m ean IF CAUGHT? If you're caught as CIA or NSA or for any agency when working overseas, the govt will disavow all knowledge of you and you're basically cut off.

"What training and schools can I expect to attend?
Initial training consists of Marine Recruit Training, & the School of Infantry, training as a rifleman. Students are then assigned to the Basic Recon Course. Upon successful completion of the BRC, Marines report to their assigned recon unit & receive various professional, technical and tactical training. Among these are: Airborne (basic and Military Freefall) Jumpmaster, Pathfinder, Ranger, Scout-Sniper, Combat Diver (SCUBA) Diving Supervisor, Mountain warfare & assault climber, Jungle operations, specialized training in urban tactics, Close Quarters Battle & shooting skills, demolitions, communications, photography, controlling aircraft landing operations and directing Airstrikes, Naval Gunfire and Artillery.."

I think SEAL's are toughest. They put them through Hell in BUD's before they even start training. Delta is probably equal to them in training but I don't think as a whole they are as though.

Anyone know whats the name of the military unit that the U.S. govt will not acknowledge if caught?
EDIT:
Who would win a battle between these military branches. Meaning which are the best of the best?
