Update: the 10 per cent coupon is back, ('$1J56T82R58HBS') -- this will drop the price of the Dell U2410 to $449.10 before tax. The coupon expires on the 26th May.

[... this has already been mentioned in the display threads, but I think the coupon is worthy of 'Hot Deals']

Only a day after launching the Dell U2410 in the States (at last!), Dell Small Business offers a coupon which discounts 20 per cent from the original $599 price: '?D1GJGKRQK0NFP'. This essentially takes the price down to slightly below the HP LP2475w.

Preliminary results from European purchasers suggest the Dell is superior to the HP, despite using the same LG.Display H-IPS panel. To begin with, the Dell has 12-bit processing and has been calibrated at the factory. And its sRGB mode may actually be effective.

I suspect this initial undercutting of the HP LP2475w may not last, but so long as it's within $100 or so of the HP, I'd probably prefer the Dell, given its superior tech. Personally I'm going to await the first round of reviews and then probably go in for this display towards Christmas, when it will almost surely drop below $500 again.

I need this monitor now. Just decided I'm in for one. It's kind of weird buying a monitor before I have a (working) computer, but this deal is too good to pass up. Can anyone confirm that I can use my name as the "business name," or do I really have to make up some crap for Dell to accept my order?

Confirmed. You can type just about anything, including your name, as your "business name."

I just ordered mine yesterday and it's already picked up by FedEx...should be here on or around Sept 17th. This should be good, I've been waiting about 2 years for a good 24"

Can't say I like the new stand either. Dell is looking to cut cost.

I've been considering a new monitor, including for PC gaming, and the main choices are between a nice 24" - like this one apparently - and a 30", like the LG W3000H ($1150).

It'd be very nice to spend less for the 24", but there's a benefit to a great 30" hi-res monitor for World of Warcraft (if it's not 'too big').

One secondary issue is that the LG seems mainly available at Newegg who says fewer than 8 bad pixels is ok, while the Dell has a zero bad pixel policy.

Thanks for posting this! I really need something to replace my dieing 2001fp and I've been waiting on this to show up! 600 was a bit more than I wanted to spend, but with this coupon I decided to spring for it! Would rather pay for something real good that will last me awhile than buy something cheap.

If this is still around at Christmas I think I've found the replacement for the POS panel my DTR laptop uses.

How does this compare to the US2408WFP? I just paid $400 for my 2408WFP and I'm still within the return period. Is this worth the extra money and exchange hassle?

Good question - you might want to post it in the video section too.

I ordered on Saturday afternoon and it is still in production this evening. If you ordered an U2410 with this deal, what is the status of your order?

This is a better panel than the 2408WFP. Much better actually. The color quality alone is worth the difference.

It is hard to overemphasize the quality difference I see over the 2408wfp. It looks pretty substantial on photo editting to my eyes. Gaming however its a push.

Colors matter in games, too - why the difference between photos and gaming?

Because for fast paced, lower fps usually is better considering the blurred motions, etc. While Color accuracy is important for photography since you want what you edit on the monitor to be almost if not exactly the same as the print out.

That is why so many people spend so much money on quality monitors and calibration tools.

BTW: Coupon is dead now, so it's back to 599. I think I'll get two of these to replace my 2407 and 2408 next time it is on sale.

I ordered on Saturday and I had to call on Tuesday morning to get them to send me a confirmation email that they actually had been purchased. It still hasn't shown up in my bank's statement, nor have I received a tracking #, but the email said I would receive them by this coming Monday. Not sure how that works out with no tracking nor them debiting my credit card. Weird, cause Dell has always been good about this in the past...

Edit: I still never received the confirmation email, but I logged into my account on Dell's site and it says it's shipping and the tracking numbers say it'll come in tomorrow. Can't wait :)

To bad you can't find non-tn's for that price anymore, or even anything less than $400 for that matter.

Color accuracy doesn't matter so much in games. The game colors weren't very accurate to life to begin with. On the other hand, a good contrast ratio would make games look a lot better.

Photography and image retouching on the other hand, you don't want to edit a picture and have it look too red on every other monitor because your monitor was too blue, etc.
