I have one on order for 584 . . ship date is dec 17. But after the price drop to 719 . . I'm thinking about ordering another one w/ the 25% coupon plus the discount I get . . would be 468 w/o tax, but tax bumps it up to 496 . . I think its worth it . . I'll just cnc the other one.

Doesn't Dell do price matches?

I just called Dell. I was transferred to Manila, Phillippines customer service. First person told me that I could adjust my 2005 LCD retail $799 order (which I bought for $560 with coupons) to today's price of $719...then she transferred me to Customer Care to initiate this request. The 2nd person said she couldn't PM b/c it's a one day promo deal. I told her that U.S. companies usually do a 3o day price match on their products. She didn't budge........I then asked to be transfrred to her supervisor. After waiting on hold for 15 more minutes, she hung up on me (she's gotta meet her call quota, dont you know?)!!

A total waste of 45 minutes!

DELL really sucks. Their Customer Service is really abyssmal.

The 2005 is on the road being shipped to me already. Otherwise, I would CANCEL and reordered.

Regardless, having this been my second negative experience (2 of 2) with Dell over the years, if the LCD comes with any issues, I'm not asking for an exchange (due to reported legendary hassles on many tech forums with LCD exchanges). Dell is too crappy to deal with. I will take my business elsewhere.

...........Good thing for me I have an AMEX card which price protects me for 60 days.

I disagree. All of these people moaning and complaining about there horrible experience will Dell will return as soon as someone post's the next great deal. Dell doesn't care about customer service to individual people because all they have to do is throw out a great deal (50%) and all the cheap people will jump on it. They simply have the cheapest prices and that's all people ultimately care about.

If people are really tired of Dell they would not read any hot deal that contains the word Dell, yet alone attempt to get in on the deal. The problem is that the deals are too good to pass up, even if you get burnt once in a while.

Interesting hearing about the Dell customer service experiences. Our first computer was a dell back in '97, and back then they were known for good customer service, and it was great from our limited experiences that we had to use it. I believe that is one of the main reasons Dell had such good growth during that time period. Since about a year after buying our Dell, we've been building our own computers so I've really been out of touch with how Dell has been progressing.

BOTH (back on topic here), sorta. I'm holding off on a new monitor right now. I still have my Dell 21" CRT Trinitron. It still works and looks great, but oh, the temptation of a new LCD almost got me until I came to my senses that I could better spend the money in areas of things I actually NEED. The original trinitron from Dell actually died a month before the warranty expired back in 2000, and this is the replacement. Oh, and when it died, Dell had my replacement monitor to me in 2 days. I could understand the support person perfectly on the phone. Must be before they started oursourcing their tech?

rcomo, since I've changed my mind on this monitor and not going to use my coupon, I can send it over to you if you are still looking for one. Shoot me an email to dotcomchris @ yahoo.com if you want it.

THere is a stackable AMEX 150 off 600 coupon floating around. That would bring the monitor price to $449 plus taxes. Note I am a canadian so I cannot get in on this and therefore do not have all the detail but a little birdie told me its possible to get this deal.

I just found a stackable 30 dollars off. Heres the code: L704J?P9SNKCD1

my 25% off still only takes it to 599. 569 with 30 off.

Zep,
You rock - I finally pulled the trigger on the 2001FP. Stacked the $30 with the 25% to get me to $569...had to pay tax on that, but it's still a better deal than most good 19" LCDs out there.

can anyone out there with a 25% code and any helpful instructions on how to stack an additional $ off pm me if you would.

Also, how can you tell if tax will be added? Is there a list of states somewhere on their site?

This was at the bottom of my order confirmation:

"Dell Home Systems collects tax on orders delivered to Texas, Kentucky, Idaho, Nevada, North Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio, Virginia, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Missouri, California and Florida. For shipments to other states, tax relates to the third party service contract only. The purchaser is responsible for remitting any uncollected tax on their order directly to the local taxing authorities."

Thanks. I'm in GA so I guess I'm OK. Still need a coupon or other info on how to get this for the best price.
