I'm sorry but it's maddening that there isn't single display with 120 hz capabilities and a resolution higher than 1080, and don't even bother mentioning that catleap nonsense. What. What is holdup with manufacturing a 2560 display with 120 hz ? I would literally buy three of them. I am begging them to take my money but nobody wants it I guess.

It's like the single best new tech for display panels, yet it is roundly ignored for most new products, and completely absent on all highend large resolution panels. Every time I see post about some new high resolution panel, I salivate over my keyboard assuming this will be the one that isn't still crippled by 60 hz refresh rate and it just never happens.

Yeh I dont understand why they dont at least come with the ability to play bluray/24fps content without pulldown, at either 72, 96, or 120hz, and as a side effect, gamers would enjoy higher refersh rates too. What the hell is the fixation with 60hz? It's useless for almost everything.

I would say 60 hz is fine for plenty of people, my gripe is that brand new monitors with high price tags completely disregard 120 hz, instead focusing on niche aspect ratios or thinner bezels.

Too bad this monitor is anywhere from 5ms latency response time up to 12ms for IPS screens.
Vsync on, mouse will be laggy. Not like MarkFW900 CRT smooth and instant.

Yeh but not fine for those that want a high end, high res display with smooth video playback and gaming. :'(

I have told you OVER and OVER and OVER that the freaking screen response time and input lag are NOT the same thing.

Part of it is 120Hz monitors are designed for 3D video and all of that tops out at 1080p, so why would the manufacturers make anything with a higher res. Once 4K video becomes mainstream then you will see high res 120Hz monitors.

Sure, but what about 72hz or 96hz like professional video editing displays? granted they are 1000's of $$, but it would be nice to see it in high end consumer displays.

Also, DVI bandwidth isnt the issue, as those catleaps reach 120hz, so theres no reason not to have a 1440p 3D/120hz display afaict.

higher refresh rates requires more aggressive compensation for switching artifacts, more aggressive switching requires more delay for preview frames, delay = lag.

also more input formats(vga, dvi, hdmi, dp, composite) means more internal scaling hardware/software and more delays that hinder 120hz. the catleaps and others dispense with other inputs so less scaling and therefore able to reach overclocks into 120hz.

What is the catch? How is it so much cheaper than Dell U2711? What is the catch?

2560x1080

There's the catch.

Too bad, while its too wide for me I enjoy seeing some more variety in this market. As long as it has any practical use. The vertical resolution of this one unfortunately makes it a joke.

And do 16x9 games scale to fit screen, even if blurred?

The catch is its 5ms reponse time to 12ms. Technology isn't there yet. Alto its 120hz if its 5ms latency or more, your going to get mouse lag in FPS games. Its great for RPG tho. You will get ghosting and shadowing and when vsync is on a wiggly mouse not instant like a FW900. Also this monitor will break your neck having to look left and right. I don't like the design and its 27 inch viewable NOT 29 inch. The resolution sux imo, I used 2304x1440@80hz on my Sony FW900 for 10 years. thx gl

Comparing a flat panel monitor to a CRT? Really? lol

According to some owners of this panel at HardOCP, there doesn't seem to be really any perceptible input lag or ghosting with this new Dell offering.

How long have you been using this panel?
