ok, no rebates to deal with, which is nice, and a Free Largan Digital Camera! ($79 retail value) Free Dell A920 All In One Printer, or a Free Palm Zire 21 ($99 retail value)

go here and select the following options

256 MB ram
Dell 2 button scroll mouse
either the free digital camera, PDA or printer
productivity pack including microsoft money
no floppy
48x cd rom drive
128mb radeon 9800 pro
whichever ISP you want

click continue

now MAKE SURE you select the 1 year limited warranty that deducts $218, those things are a total rip off

click continue

click add to cart

there should be a $200 instant rebate on there, so if you did every thing right it will be $869.00 , minus $200 = $669, no rebates to deal with, and a free digital camera, printer, or PDA

from what i am hearing, if you buy an upgrade from dell you can send your old parts back to them and get money back, from what i read the money back is about $50 for the hdd, and something like $70 for both sticks of ram.

im not sure if they really check if you actually bought an upgrade from them, if they dont you can send in the hdd and ram if you want to upgrade (which you probably will), and get about $120... remember i dont know if this is actually posible without buying stuff from them, but it'd be worth a try.

Also hot, a stripped 8300 can be had for about $70 more( $739). This model also has the option of the brand new Radeom 9800 with 256MB RAM for an additioanl $250 (total for the extra card would be $390which beats $500+ if available ;))

Tried to get the price down to $739 for the 8300, couldn't make it work though.

I can't find a 4800 series listed on Dells site.

The mobo is better and the case is worth easy the extra $20 or so

The 4800 is probably on the Japanese site (or could he have meant 4600 ;))

Dell is starting to employ some pretty shady business practices. My son ordered one of these from a salesman who told him he would be charged in three payments over three months from his debit card.
When he got his bill, they had charged the three payments in ONE MONTH. That's three separate charges on the same bill. He spoke to the salesman and three different managers plus the billing office and they told him that they had just changed the policies and that he was out of luck. They were nasty about it besides.
He is now stuck with a $30 overdraft charge on his account as well. Dell's attitude......."too bad".

Dude: "you shouldn't have bought a dell"

Contact the BBB, the FTC and your state Atourney general complaining of fraudulent business practices.
a copy of your bill will showing the 3 seperate charges will constitute more than enough evidence for you claim.
You may also want to file a small claims case against them asking for punative damages. If you can find some
others who were were treated the same you could probably find an atorney willing to take it as a class action.
You should also contact the BBB in Texas as well as the Attorney Generals office there. Here are some links for you:
