Note also that the box has 160GB Raptors (looks like Dell managed to convince WD to do what they did with the 74's on the 150's).

If you price out the components, however, the system actually prices itself out to around $5k (found out they're using Crucial RAM). I guess that signature from Michael Dell and the case art is worth the extra 4G's. :p

On a side note, I'm in discussions with Dell to acquire at least one of these boxes, if not more, to toy around with.

Don't forget you get a 3007FPW with it, which retails for $2200. I think it would cost around 7 to build it yourself.

Too bad that a quad-SLI setup is really about the only rig out that can play modern games on a 3007WFP with any AA/AF.

Yeah, but you can cut the resolution down to 1/4th. Run it at 1280 X 800 or what not. It will scale perfectly. Again, the sole reason that I am confident in my decision to buy a large screen at 1280 X 768... Looks great, great frame rates and still plays current games :D

And it is offering the Ageia physics controller on its regular XPS 600 and XPS 400 desktops in versions priced at $2,039 and $1,239, respectively.

WTF? I thought that thing was supposed to cost 300! I know dell overcharges, but not by that much.

That is the price for the complete systems, not just the AEGIA card.

OT.. Archangel do games look good on your lil monster@1920x1200? I'm not going to spend a fortune for $LI or Cro$$fire high end gpus, so I was wondering about this..

My little monster cannot possibly do that resolution. Max resolution and my monitor is 1280 X 768 where it runs natively for every game I play, unless the game is 4:3, in which case it goes from a 30" wide screen to a 26" normal screen. Anyway, to answer your question, 1280 X 768 looks beautiful on the display.

For instance, BenSkywalker mentioned how beautiful the Xbox game was on his display at 1280 X 720 and basically, he said it looked stunning... There is a guy who is anal in every way about image quality and I guess he found it looked pretty good.

But, everyone is different. I love it though... Wouldn't trade it for anything at this point.

Now that Dell owns Alienware... I'm sure we'll see a similar system from them - as if it wasn't already in Alienware's plans anyway.

The 30" Dell is sweet - no doubt - but why not buy a 56" JVC LCoS 1920x1080 for a grand more? 120Hz, better contrast, near-instant pixel refresh... and almost 2X bigger. Sure, you lose portability, but it would look amazing - even from the couch!

I'm running my system off my 42" plasma and I couldn't be happier, everything looks stunning! I've also got a 17" 8ms LCD, but it can't touch the plasma for gaming satisfaction!

What resolution is your plasma? The reason people don't want a 56" 19 X 10 screen is the same reason they rip on my 30" screen. That would be like my screen running 900 X 540 or something like that. Though I totally AGREE with you... I'd rather have 56" of goodness even if it meant less resolution like 19 X 12 for that size of a screen... But, everyone is different.

My 800*600 DLP Projector @ 72" looks freaking awesome and you only need somewhat speedy hardware to push all games at full eyecandy. I also have a 20" Sony CRT, and while high res gaming is good, so is gaming from my Lazy Boy with my 6.1 home theater setup :)

Anyway, I think buying this is bloody foolish... and oc'd fx-60 would only help it so much. Dual 600W powersupplies are sure to eat power and kill breakers, too...

My plasma runs 1366x786 - thus - every resolution scales to it. I keep the desktop at the native res and I run all games/movies at the max res that is still playable. I'm pretty happy with it, but it runs warm so it uses loud-ish fans which creates a noticeable high-pitched drone.

I'm actually in the process of selling all my A/V/HTPC stuff to save up for a new Conroe system. My perdicament is whether or not I should keep my plasma or sell it and build a full-blown home-theater with a high-end projector. I'm in a transition here from A/V enthusiast to aspiring A/V Pro, so sacrifices must be made!

Hopefully by the time Conroe is out (or perhaps a sneaky new AMD platform), the X2000 and 8000 series graphic cards will be out, so driving 1920x1080 with full eye-candy in all games will be effortless.
