The HD cabling in the PE T310 server is different due to the power supply cabling. The power supply only has 4 bundles exiting.
1. 24-pin motherboard connector.
2. 4-pin 12v motherboard connector.
3. 2 standard SATA power connectors. (1 connected to optical drive)
4. 8-pin hard drive connector.

The 8-pin hard drive connector will throw you for a loop if you attempt ordering SATA cables and power connector/splitters. The cable included with the server in a Non-RAID configuration has 1 8-pin female connection, then 4 combined SATA hard drive and power drive connections, then 4 individual standard SATA drive motherboard connections. The 8-pin female connection plugs into the power supply male connector and powers up to 4 hard drives with the single connection. I am used to seeing a power supply with individual SATA power connectors that lead directly to the drives, unless the server has a backplane. Not so with the T310 power supply. The power supply only has 1 8-pin block connector (same 'style' connection as 24-pin motherboard connector, being white plastic, rectangular, locking clip, different shapes for the actual conductor pins, etc.).

If you don't want to run RAID then don't worry about it, the server comes with the proper cabling to connect all four drives. If you are trying to order a third party RAID, or a PERC card then you will run into problems with the power connections. Trust me on that one.

The T310 ships with the S100 Embedded software RAID controller included. You can also run RAID on that, but larger RAID configurations might take more processor power than it is worth.
