Love my e1505. Although Dell's are far from the cream of the crop, they offer the best bang for the buck in my opinion.

As for those who bash their support... I broke one of the keys on my keyboard and Dell shipped me a new keyboard the next day. Thank god for warranties 😉
 
My sisters love theirs.. have had them for several years.

My dad is on his second.... no major problems for 4-5 years now.

same here, ive had mine for about 2 years now and have had no probs. i have a 9300 inspiron upgraded to match the XPS series (since they dont offer the XPS to small business purchasers) and love it. didnt pay much for it either.
 
I've had my E1505 for a little over a year, never a problem. Their only issue is all the garbage software they load on it, so make sure to get the reinstall CD/DVD.

That is the exact opposite of my experience. The last two companies I worked at both moved from HP to Dell as well.

*Edit - I've also only used the Dell Latitudes (business line) they seem very well constructed and we've had great luck with them.

Insprions = crappy, consumer grade build
Latitudes = quality, business grade builds

In school I was constantly asked to fix Inspirons, but my latitude (and others) rarely broke. Latitude FTW!

Inspirons are fine. My friends with Inspirons are doing fine. Only mine is breaking left and right, but that's because I've dropped it something like 50 times.

Technically Apple and Lenovo make better laptops but they cost more.

I would also check out the Dell Latitude series which has a better build quality than the Inspiron.
To those looking for a good laptop: $700 for all that is an amazing deal if you're not a gamer. I wouldn't question it and just order.

You're not alone. Thinkpad's over the last couple of years have been really good, rugged laptops for business travelers. I like the built-in fingerprint readers and the ability to actually turn off the wireless with a switch on the side of the case.
Interestingly though, Dell offers this now on some of their Latitude lines...

I also have one on my Company Toshiba laptop. I find it more annoying than anything, as when the battery loses complete charge you have to make sure to press the button on the next boot up, otherwise you?ll have no wireless connectivity.

If I really wanted to disabled the card, I would do so via windows.
 
I love my Dell Inspiron E1505. I bought it last October. I was worried, because after I bought it, my friend told me how crappy the Inspirons are made. Well, they must have improved them, because I love it! I don't think it feels or looks cheap at all. I hate using other people's laptops now. I love mine!

IBM's are great, very rugged laptops that IMO, are more function over form. They provide simple laptops that work well, not generally multimedia powerhouses with loud speakers or something. I think most of the ones I've used actually just have 1 speaker, and it's probably just so they can say it has a speaker or for sound effects in a powerpoint presentation, not really something meant to play movies on.

And yes, the Latitudes are including that switch now, which is definitely nice, although I've seen it on an HP/Compaq laptop as well.
 
after working with dell and dell only for probably 400+ machines, id say they are fine. If you get the upgraded warranty they fix problems on site the next day. I think the only people who have issues are those who buy a 499$ special and run it into the ground thinking it should be a tank.
