The 2407WFP uses an S-PVA panel.
According to Wikipedia all S-PVA panels are true 8-bit and use no color stimulation methods. This jives with everything I've read about the 2407WFP, I've never heard of 6-bit color on it.
Using Dell's chat, the rep. confirmed that the 2407 panel is 6 bits deep.
