I'm waiting for the 2407 as well. If the only thing added is HDCP, I'd prefer the 2405, whose price hopefully will have been driven down with the 2407's introduction.

one HDCP enabled DVI socket, and a second standard DVI socket would go down a treat.

does anyone know anything about this monitor?

I could fly there and pick one up for that price, but I wouldn't know how to get it back here!
Not really, the dollar is weak compared to the pound which accounts for some of it. There's probably also an import duty. And the increased cost of Dell doing business in Europe (employee taxes, mandatory vacation etc) has to be paid by somebody. Socialism ain't free you know 🙂
Since the dollar is weak, the cost of US products in Europe should be LESS.

To Beacon: you could buy the monitor from EBay and ship it to the UK. I've sold stuff on ebay before (not a monitor though) and I notice there's a lot of European interest in buying on US (ebay even though there are European versions of ebay) in order to dodge VAT taxes.

Any more word on the 2407FPW?

As much as I hate to give in to HDCP, if I'm planning on spending this much on a monitor I don't want it to be crippled by NOT supporting it. I know, I know, my video card doesn't support it either, but one thing at a time, right?

So yeah, updates on specs, release date, price, etc. would be great!

No mention of it as of yet but i was expecting to hear about it yesterday. The UK offical price is down to £600 on the Dell website so it's going to be here soon...

All I am saying is, before buying the latest GPU available in market to use Vista and HDCP thingy, wait till the Grpahics cards with HDCP Keys pre-installed.

But we're interested in the monitor here not the graphics cards. Or for that matter the HD-DVD or blueray drives.

Well, grey to grey is going from 12ms to 6 ms, but black to black is staying 16. Must just be overdrive doing it? That + HDCP. And it has a new stand, so the total weight is like 5lbs less.

I called Dell today to order a Rebel XT and asked about the 2407--the woman said she had absolutely no info about it, but said she would email me when she heard something. I'll go ahead and start holding my breath....

I'm watching eBay for a better deal. Hopefully prices will drop when the 2407's come out for the 2405's.
I noticed price drops as newer models debut. I've seen some deals close at $700 for the 2405.

It seems so, I a in the UK and some stores that are on the ball have dropped prices of the 20 & 24.
I just want to see the specs. of the 200" so I can make my decicion.
On the 18th I will buy a Lcd probably the NEC MultiSync® LCD20WGX2 2
