lots will argue that the $100 difference is worth it. i put in another order for my gf for a 1905fp and mx500 mouse (total $180 after $150 gc ;)) so i'll see if the extra $100 pays off. my guess is that it will.

If the price drops significantly within 30 days you can likely just get a price difference/partial refund. I did that with a 2001FP a couple years ago. Bought it, then 2 weeks later a good deal came out. Dell allows returns within 30 days for ANY reason so I called up a rep and asked for a partial refund. She said no. Then I said since it's been less than 30 days I'd like to return my current monitor and purchase a new one at the lower price. Then she said, "Oh, I see. Let me talk to my manager." Then a minute later she gave me a full partial refund for the difference. Probably YMMV but it's worth a shot. :)

Dell's return policy, now, is 21 days.

you cant combine the 2% off with the DPA, percentages can not be combined, so either 40% off or 2% off, you choose

Wow that is an insane price for a LCD with the LG Philips SIPS panel. Tempted to replace my Q17 with HyDis 20ms for one that has better viewing angles.

My only concern is with the widescreen. Is there a way to force original aspect ratio on ATI drivers? With Nvidia drivers, you can set it to "fixed aspect ratio" and it will stretch out the picture as large as it can without changing the aspect ratio.

Hmm? You mean say you play something at 1024x768, it'll have a black border and it'll still be at 1024x768 without a stretched image? If so, that's a feature of the monitor (I didn't even known until this thread).

Hmm, can't make up my mind on this or the 2001, any opinions?

I mulled over that same question, originally settling on the 2001 until a few "this is perfect, it's absolutely gorgeous and beautiful" 2005 posts swayed my opinion.

In the end I'm glad I chose the 2005FPW, I'm not really a gamer and although it's vertically shorter I'm ok with that. I can have a web browser window open and my Trillian list to the right without any minimizing.

Does Samsung or any other brand make a LCD as good as this Dell?

I refuse to buy a Dell monitor.

Thanks

Dell's are usually rebadged Samsung or LG panels.

With Samsung LCD's, you're probably going to pay near retail which defeats the purpose of posting in this forum?

Thanks

So this monitor is a loss leader for Dell.

I'm not sure how much it costs Dell to manufacture a 2005FPW but if you want a HOT DEAL on a 20" LCD, this is it!

Unbelievable - I ordered Saturday (7/23) at 12:15 am and I get an email "Order Shipped 7/23" - the accessories are usually air freighted over from Asia - these guys really do have an amazing supply chain.

I mean I have 1k+ available on my DPA credit account. But I'd like to order at least two of these at the 389 price.

Is this possible?
