That's the best way to do it... everyone has their own preferences and each monitor is unique.

NEC 2141 is very good choice. I had a hard time choosing between the NEC 2141 and Sony G520P. I went with the Sony but it was a touch decision and basically a coin flip.

Well, from my POV, the NEC is basically considered the top AG monitor at the moment, and my much older 19" KDS AG's do 1600 x 1200 @ 85hz with no problems with geometry, covergence, or moire, so I'm fairly certain it won't be a problem with the NEC.

I also hear that their windows based Naviset software makes setup a breeze, and if that fails, their are focus port on the sides for ultra fine tuning. I fully expect to have to deal with the frustration of adjustment and fine tuning, but I will really only have to do it once.

As for the video card, I have two 9800 Pro's and one 9700 pro's in my systems here, and they don't seem to have any problems up to 1600 x 1200. The only thing I'll likely do in higher resolutions is game occasionally, and things you mentioned that might occur @ the highest resolutions won't matter as much. I doubt I'll run my desktop @ 2048 x 1536..😛

It basically boiled down to, other than size, space, and power, there was really no advantage to the LCD over a high end CRT. From a purely graphics quality standpoint, their really was no LCD at a similar price that could even begin to compare. Also, CRT's are clearly on the way out, at least in their current form, and LCD's are quickly getting cheaper, better, and faster, so going with the CRT now, and waiting until there are affordable LCD's that can match or exceed my new CRT's performance seemed like the best thing to do.

Thanks...just got it and it's AMAZING. No deeper than my 19" CRT, but a much bigger, clearer, brighter screen. Superbright + gaming = teh winnar.

I'm sure the 2005FPW is a great screen, you will enjoy it.

An update for those considering this monitor.

Just tried out my third 2005fpw the backlight issue is still present but barely noticeable. It was not evident on boot up like my first two. It has 4 stuck pixels only viewable when the screen is all black.

I'm going to keep this one.

Hmmm.. Minor backlight Issues and 4 dead pixels?

If it's not to bad then i agree keep it.. Buuut 😕

Two exchanges and close to two hours on the phone with Dell in two weeks for an almost perfect monitor is good enough for me. It might take a dozen exchanges and hours of phone calls to find a perfect monitor. It's just not worth the extra hassle for me.

As for the stuck pixels only two of them are noticeable.
