I hope you already ordered because this is now dead.

Yes. Order was completed just before my "free next day ship" post.

Does that now qualify me for an answer on whether DVI is included?
I'm not sure if it qualifies you for an answer from him but I'll try to help. Both a DVI and VGA cable are included with the LCD.

I think RossMAN didn't want you getting all excited about getting the monitor if you hadn't already ordered it. His lack of response to your question was most likely an oversight.

As much as I like samsung monitors I have decided that if upgrading to a large LCD monitor one might as well hold out for DVI, just so that they can feel better with themselves at the end of the day🙂

while i'm still waiting for my order to be shipped, i have a question.
is this monitor better then that 19" BenQ LCD on clearance from OD a week ago?

Much, much, much better.

The panel used in the 1905 Ultrasharp used to be the Samsung panel used in the Samsung 193P. Some of the 1905s are now using the AU Optronics 8ms g2g panel used in the ViewSonic VP191b. The Viewsonic panel is a little better.

How can you tell which 1905 you got? And are you sure or is this speculation. We just got done telling everyone how crap the response time is on this..😛 Hate giving out wrong information.😱

Not at my home PC right now, so can't tell which exact version I have, but this monitor is actually quite decent for gaming (e.g.-BF2). Followed Anandtech's review which turned out to be correct. My previous monitor was a good CRT too, so I would noticed any major ghosting...

Got it in early May for $300 after taxes and shipping...so this is a great deal for you lucky sods 🙂

I'm for sure on that. It has used the Samsung panel since the beginning, but at some point they switched to the 8ms AU Optronics panel.

I saw this The Link and called Dell to verify if that was indeed correct. After 3 calls I got someone who knew what they were talking about. An Indian from India! Their parts database showed that the 1905 used that AU Optronics panel.

Remember, this is Dell. While the 1905's are using that panel now and have been using it for a while, there's no guarantee that they'll use that panel tomorrow or today even if you order it now. The rep told me that Dell sometimes uses different parts than what they say they use on the website but only if it is the "same quality or better."

Thanks for the UPDATE! So how do I tell when it arrives? pull the cover and look for AU optronics label?

My 1905s didn't say ReInit like that said. It's the option with the red dot, it says something like "Restore Factory Settings".

LOL

DAMN

WOOT

is all i can say right now. i just got it 20 mins ago and installed it fairly quick, everything was easy to do and no dead pixels so far. I will test counter-strike on it right after this post.

ITS HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a small problem though, i was on windows when i took out the dvi cable and power for the monitor and install this new one. It didnt show up so i rebooted my computer and it worked. It booted up and i was like OMG BIG SCREEN.

It'll ghost, sorry man. I had one and hated it 🙁 My dad has one, both of my suitemates had them, and I sold my to a neighbor for a $15 profit ($235 then).

You'll get used to it though, they all did, I just saw no reason too 🙂

Nothing new shows up in the first OSD menu. That confused me too. Go into the Restore Settings option or ReInit (whatever yours says) and then select Factory. Some really weird screen pops up and you can compare the number with the ones at the bottom of that link. The screen on the Samsungs I have (which came on Monday) is blue.

Yes it does ghost. I noticed fairly quick when turning since i using a good crt before, but ghosting that doesnt affect the way i play.

The thing which does affect me a bit in gameplay is when i try to quickly turn around it ghosts and my eyes get confused on focusing on the picture. (possibly can only be noticed by 1337 sauce gamers with quicker than the average object/image recognition)

The native res on the monitor makes CS:S look fugly. The text are big and bolded and the crosshair is large (even when its already set to smallest in options)

So far, good for every day things like browsing for porn and checking emails. FPS gaming is OK so far the ghosting isnt too bad maybe 1-2 pixels slower than my CRT. MMORPG, WCIII and other games in the same category work perfectly, so saying that this isnt a "gaming monitor" isnt true.

This thing is beautiful!

Heh. I had to hold down the menu and -, not + button. Then when i turned it on and pushed the menu button, the info came right up. Mine is a samsung.

It isn't a gaming LCD in the fact that such better ones exist. My planar 17" LCD is MUCH better at FPS's than this one...

Dual monitors time😉 you still got your CRT man use it. (helps to read game walkthoughs anyway while gaming) 😛

Unless you have an nvidia card, which takes about a 40-50% performance hit by just having a second monitor enabled :|

Otherwise, I agree completely, and that is the setup I plan on having once I get some more room for a bigger desk 🙂

The drop is nowhere near that bad, it MIGHT be about 10%, if that. I have a 6800 ultra and the only reason I disable my secondary is to fix a mouselag glitch in cs 1.6 (it interprets the in game resolution as the spanned resolution and lags everything all to hell).

Well, my Doom3 bench would drop from 100+ FPS to about 60 with the second monitor with my 6800U, so... yeah 🙂

Does that play nicely with the nvidia drivers? It has been since the the GF3ti and 7500 days since I tried that, it sucked so much that I gave it up...

Do you just use the built in windows drivers for that card or do you go ahead and put the catalysts on?
