Delicious real draft root beer from A&W is delicious

Just got some real draft root bear from a local A&W by me. This has to be up there as one of my fav carbonated beverages of all time, with martinelli's.
I went to the store and bought some and it tasted nothing like it. The real draft one has this really smooth brown sugary vanilla taste to it where the store one tasted like all the sugar was removed and was carbonated 5 times more.

Found this site when I got back, looks like I'm gonna be spending a bit on root beer next time at the supermarket.

Update: Stater Bros had the Henry Weinhard's and the Stewart's.
I actually don't like the henry weinhard despite it having the highest rating on the rootbeer reviews. It tastes like the A&W but with sweat added to it. Maybe it'll grow on me.

The Stewart's tastes slightly less sweet than the A&W draft, and more carbonated. I'd imagine if you mixed A&W store bottled and the A&W draft, this is what it'd taste like.

A&W draft still wins so far.

I've seen one in LA county but haven't gone there. I do love me some good root beer. I met some Belgian foreign exchange students and they said root beer was the most disgusting thing ever. I would have said something but they were hot.

Thats why I love A&W joints, but they are few and far between. Some regions of the country dont even have them.

I have 2 within a Block from my home. 1 is in the Food Court at the Mall, the other is the typical A&W. They are quite common in these parts. Always have been a big fan of A&W. When I was a kid it was always a special treat, especially when we got the big glass Jug of Root Beer or Orange pop(also very good and unique) to bring home.

Draft A&W tastes flat to me. I like a lot of carbonation.

It is flatter, it's mainly the flavour that is much different.

They need to up the carbonation then.

$4.50 a bottle at Whole Foods though 🙁 I usually only get it on special occassions...but it's mighty tasty stuff

I haven't had the bavarian nutmeg but the normal virgils rootbeer is delicious. Trader Joe's sells them for $4 for a 4 pack and Costco has been known to have little mini-kegs of it also.
