IMO you're just asking for trouble if you buy VW.

Edit: What is the problem with premium? Like wiz said, it's a max of 4 dollars extra per fill...

actually have a $2500 trade-in so my car price will end up being about $25000.. but besides that, yes the extra 20 cents will matter in the long run, even with the gas price increases. What I'm more concerned about is the gas mileage..

My wife owned 2 previous VW Passats and LOVED them. She totalled her 2003 and it caused a lot of strife for us because she insisted on replacing it with a Passat, and I wanted her to consider other cars (specifically a 2003 TL). She test-drove an '05 TSX and she was SOLD. I don't think I could get her to go back to VW now if I tried.

Toyota Avalon - Premium gas I think
Hyundai Sonata
FJ Cruiser - Might be premium

In all honesty it sounds like you want a passat or jetta TDI, VW sucks when it comes to gasoline engines but their Diesel engines are decent, their QA on building their cars is low as well, built in Mexico I think.

pass on sonata or azera for that matter.

i guess i could settle for honda accord ex with leather/navi but their styling is horrible..

what's out there that's 27-28k and 2 years old? Are any of the cars listed even that much new?

It sounds like you don't live in a major metropolitan area. Maybe you should look up prices online (or phone) and fly out to 1 of the coasts and buy the car you want new for that much. You can then have a nice road trip and break in your engine cruising down the highway. or fly home.

i live in a not-so-big city in the south... flying out? hm.. not sure i have that time.

mazda6 - heard it has a lot of issues.

you said you wanted a passat 2.0T but that engine (and any other turbo for that matter) requires premium. if regular gas is a priority, look to sometime like a nissam maxima or honda accord. anything above those and you will probably be buying premium.

give us some more decision points (ie: performance, manual/auto. RWD/FWD/AWD, etc)

you make a good point.. then again, most cars requiring premium don't get great mileage in the first place so it would be more than just $4 per fill..

the v6 passats do but I would seek out the 4 cyl if I do go veedub. TDI.. good gas mileage but diesel's price usually is unpredictable..

Subaru Forester. You won't regret it.

I would say a Mazda 3. It will be more fun to drive, will use less gas and just as reliable minus the AWD.

Why don't you get a nice Honda Accord V-6 EX for $27K or so? It has the best interior and is very quick. It gets good mileage and doesn't require premium.

5.9 seconds to 60MPH.

You'll have a subtle package that smokes most cars out there. People assume a car like that is slow and whatever, but they just don't realize the truth. Also, the interior is really nice and since you'll be on the inside, you can get to enjoy it.

Me personally, I prefer cars that are subtle over more stylized cars. That is why I love Subaru, they make nice subdued cars that nobody assumes will smoke them.

And that is why I love the Accord as well.

Used Caddilac CTS? The 3.6L V6 doesn't require premium. They are comfortable and I think they look great. The cost of ownership probably is much better than a Passat too.

Solara = woman's car

You're not going to get a V6 car that gets 24/31. Most V6's get in the low 20's.

Every single car someone has suggested that meets your criteria, you've shot down. Why don't you just buy what you want and stop hassling people here since you won't listen anyway.
