Yea, the moral of the story is to eat at Red Robin and skip Outback. Red Robin rules and every time I've gone it's been fantastic.

This was the proper route from the start. I have always been impressed with Red Robin. I'm getting hungry!

Seriously! I love the place but my wife says we go there too much *shakes fist*

And regarding Outback and its Australian theme...apparently Australian food is actually just American food with funny names like "Wallaby Chops" or "Tasmanian Devil Steak"

Wow, you must have had the worst restaurant experience in history it seems.

Outback's are great here. The Outback Polo Ranch is right where I lived and my parents had two of the main guys in high school with them.

It's always a long wait here, but it's good for the price. It's not a 5 star restaurant but you do get trailer trash coming in sometimes expecting to be treated like Kings since 'they are eating at Outback'. It's a family restaurant....if you want quiet and lack of children being noisy triple your entree price and you should be good.

You bringing up a Red Robin and how it was perfect and cheaper has me thinking this was really the story you wanted to tell.

We had one of those places here. The worst food and way overpriced. The thing folded in months.

Yeah because the waitress is the one that cooks the food. Do everyone that enjoys eating out a favor and stay home with your frozen pizza.

There's waaaay too much hype for Red Robin. I went there. I had a $10 burger. I was completely, utterly, and in all ways underwhelmed. Hardee's burgers are much better, and cheaper.

I would never blame a restaurant for having noisy children. In fact our red Robin is often over run with rugrats. It was a minor addition to my rant and was given a minor place in the rant and then never mentioned again until now.

And yes - I cleverly hid that 2 line Red Robin comment in my 48 line rant to tell that story. Thats why I made it so prominent and went into such detail about it :) I just thought it was a stark comparison

As for Outback being bad and Red Robin being good - chains vary by place and employees. I am sure there are places where the situation is reversed.

Yay!

We have no non-chain choices for steak other than my grill :(

Yeah, Red Robin is the king of gut-bomb. Every once in a while a gut-bomb is necessary.

I had a bad experience at Outback too... ordered my steak medium-rare, came back rare... I spent the rest of the night in the bathroom...

I'm not about to bring up the race issue, you didn't so I won't, but I am curious about this: Is your last name Mohammed or Garcia, or is your wife's name Shamiqua?

I'm just wondering if Outback is like Denny's...where they prefer their minority customers to eat...out back. :p

Yeah because the waitress is the one that cooks the food. Do everyone that enjoys eating out a favor and stay home with your frozen pizza.

The waitress can still be prompt by making sure your drinks are filled and checking back at your table every few minutes to see if there's anything else you need. Most people, I think, get that it's not really the waitresses fault if the food takes a long time to cook.

Restaurants are always hit-or-miss the first time you go there, especially the corporate chains.

I worked as a server for about 7 years (high school -> college) and I've noticed that some people just suck at it.

It's like any business, if the people working there are incompetent you are going to have an unpleasant experience.

I worked at Chili's and Claim Jumpers and I've never had any complains about me (food taking too long is not the servers fault people! ... unless they forgot to ring in the order). All servers have to do is be polite,be very attentive, and handle pressure well.

Definatelly not medium well done

*cringe*

They also need to go back and make sure the kitchen staff got the food order, and check the status of it every so often. Other wise [seinfields' soup nazi] NO TIP FOR YOU![/soup nazi]

1. It was obviously busy, and a mistake was made on the list. It happens.

2. Your steak was done perfectly. Only a freak gets a steak done medium well :)

Go to a Texas Roadhouse if one is near you. Service at the two different ones that I've been at has been absolutley excellent, not to mention that they have some of the best food at a chain steak/restaurant place ever.

I'm all for good service but I just have to point out a few problems I have with your rant.

1. You think the idea of a nice meal is going to Outback.

2. You think they call all names in order at a restaurant. Usually, they won't call a party of two for a table of 8 that's cleared up, except when ...

3. You complain and force them to. Then you complain you were put in a table meant for 8.

4. You eat steak, medium well.

We get seated, order drinks and order food.

The food comes out normal time. As we begin to eat water starts dripping on my girlfriend food, and then starts pouring down.

Look up and there was a nice brown mildew panel with water pouring down.

The manager wouldnt give us free food and only offered 50% off.

We havent been back since

Ummm, why didn't you walk out? I've walked out of restaurants before without paying.

Mediocre steaks at best. Nothing impressive. Draft beer sucks too.

I have to agree, Logans are the best out of the chain type steak houses.
