default vcore for a 1600+

i had my 1600+ overclocked with a 166fsb but it hit me that i didn't really need to overclock, so i just left it stock at 1.4ghz and lowered the vcore the lowest i could, which was 1.4 and it seems to be stable. is default vcore 1.75? is a 1.4 vcore safe for the cpu?

yes default is 1.75, i'm not sure its dangerous to have a low vcore, your computer will just be less stable, and probably generate more errors

left it to run prime95 for 9 hours last night so i'm thinking its pretty stable, but still want to know if a low vcore will do anything to cpu.

i'm getting about 34C idle and 40C full load, i think the temps would be a bit lower if i plugged in a couple other fans i have in my case. i'm using a ax-7 with a really quiet and thus low output fan. this is at stock 1.4ghz.

there is nothing wrong with undervolting

theoretically it would do exact opposite of overvolting i would think

i had my 1ghz tbird running at 1.4v for over 5-6 months and only thing i noticed was cooler temps 🙂

sounds like its stable enough, but if you want super stable
download 3dmark2001
start up prime 95 torture test and loop 3dmark about 50-60 times (it will take quite a while for it to end, maybe overnight or something would be nice)

if it withstands that, then id say you are good to go
