Declawing is bad, but cutting off the balls is ok?

We always declawed our cats, it's no big deal. We lived in the NE too, lots of nasty wildlife around, never had an issue with other animals and a cat getting into a fight.

My ****** fake leather aside, we're already playing god and denying the most basic life function to an animal, why not just deny it a vinyl sofa too?

Are you a vegan? If you eat any kind of animal product, then you should just stfu right now. Otherwise I suppose you have some kind of a point.

So the contents of my stomach determine what is and isn't ok for cats. I HAVE THE POWER!

By eating those animals, you're denying them their most basic right to live and reproduce. Oh noessss!

Go back under your bridge.

...the cats taste better there.

Who gives a fvck about the internal body chemistry of a cat? Compared to unchecked breeding I'd take docile behavior, less desire to wander and not spraying anyday of the week. Fact is man has changed the natural order of things on this planet. Like it or not, it is a fact and there's nothing you, nature boy, are going to be able to do to change it unless you can magically restore the population of predatory animals we've almost eliminated from the wild.

So stop b!tching about cats getting their testicles whacked off already.

BTW-Bears don't eat cats. They mostly eat berries, grubs, insects and fish...oh and grizzly bears have been known to eat insanely stupid people like Timothy Treadwell.

Do you like your possessions, do you like what you have around you? I'm sure none of that was natures intent either. Some things, I guess are hard to keep in perspective.

Dang, Jules basically beat me to it.

I do wish there was a way to sterilize and prevent undesirable behavior like spraying without resorting to castration, but for the moment there isn't.

spraying?

Intact male cats will spray urine to mark territory, even in the house. Females bleed and sometimes spray.

nasty....i would never want to own a cat now

I have 2 male cats. Zero testicles. Negative 12 claws (polydactyl cats). They go outside, are happy, piss less, and our furniture is happy.

males "spray" when in heat.

i think females do too 😕

When cats start bring home paychecks, then I'll care but otherwise, who cares what other people do?

Some cats claw enough that declawing is the only solution, my ex had a cat like that. Clipping, spray bottle, etc nothing worked so it came down to putting it up for adoption (where it would probably have been put to sleep sooner or later) or declawing. She ended up giving it away to a farm a few years after she had it declawed, where it apparently happily hunts mice with no problems.

My cat on the other hand, she has claws but the only thing she scratches is the box mattress. She ran away for 3weeks once, when I picked her up at the animal shelter she was skin and bones so I don't think she had very good luck at hunting. She is now afraid to go outside, I'll take her out and she ran right back inside.

And my cat that is clawless up front kills daily (assuming she is able to sneak out). Go figure!

My guess is that its probably more stunting to a cat's survival skill set to keep the cat inside during early development...animals tend to have critical learning periods, and a cat that learns early to hunt and kill will always be able to claw or no. But every cat is different, as is every home and owner so making blanket, zero-tolerance cat policy is probably not a good idea.

cheers and beers!

You really are nothing but a troll.

my cat didn't miss his balls at all. he never once showed interest in that area either before or after he had them removed.

however, many cats do miss their claws. my parent's had a cat that looked its paws when the bandages came off with this look like, "the horror, the horror." it was clearly in serious distress. and it ruins their sense of balance and grace. it is literally the same as cutting off the first joint of all your fingers (because that's what they do, cut at a joint). imagine living in a world where you'll never see a female. which would you rather keep, your useless balls that will just cause you grief, or your fingers?
