BTW, is the sub, DVC or single 4 ohms ??
Ive heard nothing but good things about Alpine amps, and Crutchfield is only in contention for the 501 amp as its not sold locally anymore and its an authorized dealer...
The Sub is a dual voice coil...

Alpine is not a bad amp but for the money, you can definately get better.
For example, I bought a used JBL BP600.1 for $100 shipped.
While you probably won't find it that cheap, Ebay still has it for less than $150...still better than spending over $300 for an AMP.
JBL BP600.1
300w x 1 at 4 ohms
600w x 1 at 2 ohms
Not a big fan of JBL though, my friends JBL amp crapped out on him after 2 months.
Yeah, its always like that with any product.
Once you have bad experience with a certain product you tend not to go back.
A friend of mine has the JBL p180.2 and bp600.1 for over a year before he sold them to me and they are still as good as ever.
From reading various car audio forum, the consensus is that JBL are very good.
Even the best brand will crap out sometimes, its how they handle the support should count.
