Well, it turned out it really was too good to be true. Ordered the HP 940 online at 430PM and was told I could pick it up at the store. Went to the store only to be told the printer had been gone since 9AM. I am now about 20th on a list for either a 940 or 3420 for $39.99. Might get it in a few weeks, they say. Which is better?

They're supposed to pull those orders 1st thing in the morning but they rarely if ever do. That's why I suggested people call the store just prior to opening if they wanted the printer.

As for myself, after reading reviews etc about this printer I decided I didn't want it. I did call the store around noon just to see if they pulled it. It was hiliarious listening to the Mgr try and make every excuse in the book as to why my items weren't pulled.

I really didn't need/want this printer anyway. I've got at least 4 unopened printers sitting here now.

I tried once more tonight. It's now 3-day delivery if you select to pickup at store. If you select "shipping" then it's OOS.
This morning the OD manager told me each OD store had about 20. Yes. they gone quite soon. Same price at Staples, it's a re-manifactured.

Good luck.

Before leaving home I checked the order status page, which showed as "canceled by customer"..WTF

* I went to staples around 5:00 PM , not expecting any deals left but they still had all early bird specials for the special prices. The manager even let me use a copy of a $20/$100 coupon.

If you're paying that much for a cable, you're paying too much! Sam's Club sells a 2pk of of gold plated cables everyday for less than $7.00.

They had a lexmark X73 multifunction printer/scanner for $50, and so I said 'screw the 940 deal'(I probably couldn't have done it anyway as the rookie employees were literally taking 20-30 minutes per customer at customer service/checkout aux2). The hp940 does 1200x2400 only on photo paper, and does 600x600 on normal paper. The X73 does 2400x1200 on any paper, and scans @ 1200x600, and though it claims it copies, you have to have a computer on. For me, the X73 was the better deal, as it was for the thousands who flooded the floors of Best Buy(X73's were gone in around 25 minutes).

Edit: In addition, because of HP's money-grubbing policies regarding 3rd-party ink(they integrate the printer heads into the ink cartridge) their ink cartridges cost about twice as much as Lexmark's.

Remember, higher dpi uses more ink for obvious reasons.

I thought I was screwed when I ordered 2 940's the night before, only to have the manager tell me there was only one left. He gave me the i320 at the same price ($39.99). He got this sly look on his face when he rang it up, as he noticed that the Cannon had a $30 MIR. "Damn you're getting a good deal".

2 HP 940's...$80.00
-20 off 75....$-20.00
-30 MIR on i320....$-30.00
---------------------------------
Canon i320 & HP 940 for $30.00

What he doesn't realize is that most of those ALL-IN-ONE printers are not worth a crap! You would have been better off getting just the printer. Specifications on items don't always tell the whole picture about its quality.
