I've tried hotmail, yahoo and gmail.

after using hotmail for 7-8 years, I finally made the switch to gmail. it was worth it :)

agreed on all accounts.

Yahoo is my choice. Less spam than Hotmail and the emails arrive quickly.

except after signing into yahoo, you still need to click into your inbox. thats's 10 clicks/day, 70/week, 280/month, you get the point.

Register a domain and find a cheap webhost that has webmail. It's not free, but it's yours to manage how you see fit.

why should you get good email for free?

if its free, you shouldn't complain if it sucks

if you pay, then you can expect it to be good

Once, huh? I'd stick with Gmail.

Once when it was coursework I needed to do for the next day, and I'd finished what I needed to do by the time it arrived.
The Hotmail copy worked fine, finished it, checked Gmail, and the copy had arrived there.
I'd rather not risk it again. Nor would I like to risk being unable to read my email at all from Hotmail :(

So send time-sensitive e-mail from both accounts.

That, or grab an account, from someone, or simply pony up the $10-20 a year for your own domain/email. Well, if you're gonna do that, I guess you could just upgrade your hotmail account.

all this wonderful praise for gmail.. as much as I like it... I've seen a few friends have problems with it. One of my friends had issues w/ sending mail. She'd send replies to folks (ranging from web based to local ISP's) and they'd never receive anything. I've had problems w/ time as well (not 6hrs.. but about 40 minutes). Not to say anything else is perfect... but some of you just put some blanket statements out there...

another vote for fastmail.fm btw. but it's a pay service.
