In response to the claim that I make a lot of depressing posts here is my AWESOME post of the day.

I am officially debt free.
January I invested all but $500 of my liquid assets

I bought a car (borrowed $5000 from my mother) and well I miss calculated how much money I needed for my internship and racked up some credit card debt.

Well good thing Chase had 0% apr for the first 6 months. Paid that bitch off and my car.

Finished that crap last week.

DEBT FUCKING FREE

You'll be back in the debt prison soon enough. Don't get too excited. Mommy and daddy merely posted your bail.

Debt Free is only temportarily. Sooner than later a big expense will come up and put you back into debt. Enjoy it while you can.

I've been essentially debt free* for about a year now, I like it.

I have a 0% credit card I choose to pay by exact monthly payments which will make it 0 balance before the 0% is up. I have the money to pay it but what is the point?

By paying it off you free up your income to use on other things later. Instead of needing to pay it off at whenever it is due you pay it off now and don't have to worry about it ever again.

You are not really debt free until you own your home.

Until then you are still paying someone else's debt for them by renting or paying for a mortgage.

True, but when rates are 3.9% for a 30 year loan, I am perfectly happy paying someone else!
