I'm debating if I should try maxing out today and I can't decide if I want to try or not. Part of me does and part of me doesnt, and the reason I don't is because if I try and fail I will be disappointed, and I will be pretty exhausted to probably get a full workout on my chest. If I succeed and don't get a full workout on my chest, then I won't care cause hey I just hit my max.

I kind of wanted to try before I started cutting up too much before I lose too much strength. So far I've been cutting up since beginning of last week and haven't lost any strength elsewhere and actually felt better on my shoulders this past monday than I had prior to starting my cutting phase.

And yes this will strictly be for my ego boosting to say that I did it :)

Talk me in or out of doing it, I have 90 mins before I head to the gym from work!

Do it, make sure you warm up before you try and you have someone to spot you. If you have being working out for while, this will give you some indication of how much you have progressed. Good Luck

Do it! if you fail you really aren't going to be that tired. it's a split second where you know you'll have failed or not.

but you're NOT going to fail. and the feeling you'll have after you've achieved a new PR will boost you some more to finish out your session.

<--new bench PR last week (245lbs @ 138lbs bw. i aint gonna lie, that was a huge confidence and ego booster :D)

good job man!

well what i'm going for will be a huge milestone - 300lbs. i did 285lbs a few weeks ago one rep which honestly didn't feel THAT tough.

we'll see I'll start w/255 and i can do 6 or so of them easily I may try 300 :)

When was the last time you found your max? If you're actually keeping track of things then by all means do it. If you are just doing it for the hell of it and have nothing to really compare it and don't plan to compare it to anything then don't.

I did 285lbs a few weeks ago.

today however I didn't attempt it. my spotting buddy was not there when I was doing flatbench, and all around I didn't have much energy and was strugglin to just get 255lbs up 6x.

DO IT!

I max out every so often on my lifts to see where I am at.

Usually I bench 110kg x 3reps x 3sets. I haven't max on BP in ages, maybe get 115kg at most.
