The concern for "political support" seems to be wildly inconsistent, I can think of many actions here that no political support existed for yet they were taken despite that.
They tried it. It made things worse. The idiots ran rampant and the good posters got infractions when calling them out.

That is a <word I can't say here or it may be considered some kind of call out> issue. If the idiots ran rampant then they should have been given the infractions, not the people that reacted to them because they perceived that there might be some bias in the way things were dealt with based on political views.

Like, I've been paying attention to the people who are big into the debate club. They might as well rename the forum liberal circlejerk honestly.

It is widely accepted that the source of P&N problems was not insults. Insults were the symptom of the actual underlying problem(s): Intellectual dishonesty and wide use of logical fallacies. It was determined that it is not possible for mods to "correct" those types of things with current resources.

lol, ie the public is stupid.

strange thing: you might find that this word means nothing what you assume it to mean when you engage people in thoughtful discussion rather instantly label them <hilarious insult which I don't understand> simply because they state a viewpoint that you object to.

Novel concept, I know.

Exactly. Most people don't even realize they are doing it. Then you throw in deliberate trolls, people who know exactly how to skirt the rules while pushing all the right buttons and you have the cesspool that is P&N. How do you know if someone is just really stupid or if they are just trolling? You often can't, so mods have to give the benefit of the doubt that the poster is just stupid. You can't infract stupid.

sure you can.

...but not here, for obvious reasons.

I think a lot of posters vastly underestimate the amount of time it would take for any team of moderators to dredge that cesspool. It doesn't seem remotely worth it, considering most of the toxic waste is contained.

Debate Club has been changed to "Discussion Club". Apparently someone can't make up their mind. I wonder what the real reason is. 😕🙄

Great example of intellectual dishonesty right here.

One time in band camp... wait I mean debate club. 😉

I am in but I mostly just check it and p&n for any actual news posts I might be interested in then actually post.
