Fuck that. The internet as it is now is a medium for free thought, exchange of ideas and opinions, and a source of strange, strange things. If any legislation is passed that allows the government to change content, it will never be the same. Once government gets power it doesn't let it go.

Well then dont steal. If you do steal content then people who make content will lobby the gov to force you not to. This isnt a all you can eat buffet.

Clearly Jst0rm makes too much money, and his industry needs to be federalized. I think limits on entertainment costs, possibly through a change to the constitution guaranteeing free entertainment to all and created by people making minimum wage. Hey, if it's good enough for health care it's good enough for Hollywood.

Until then, I'll download anything I want.

That's not how it works. Instead of downloading what you want, you should support entertainment on a more local level.

Find the people making decent livings at art, and you'll find a lot of great art.

The world doesn't need to change, individuals need to change their perspective. There are cheaper media alternatives available to you, you just have to seek them out. In the 21st century, piracy is making less and less sense with the availability of relatively cheap, like for $70 a month you could get all the games, movies and music you wanted to, on whatever device you wanted.

People are just "poor" in that they are cheap, and they know how to do it for free, so why not? That's not an answer. Don't you ever feel a little bad that the artist doesn't get money? I know I have, and it forced me to look at my usage habits, and adjust them so that I could still reward the artist, in whatever way possible.

The Chinese use censorship to crush political opposition, pornography, historical events that portray Communism in a negative light, news reports of Communist Party corruption, etc.

America uses censorship to prevent copyright infringement.

Not an apples to apples comparison.
And further illustrating that Washington is by the people and for the people and by people of course I mean corporations.

I do support local artists, audio and visual. The difference between them and Hollywood is they're providing me a service rather than trying to sell me the same 1s and 0s over and over and over. Hollywood is a business model that needs to die, and Jst0rm's career along with it.

Instead of trying to pull everyone down to your level you should be trying to improve your situation. You will find life to be much more enjoyable.

Film doesn't really work on that level. If people enjoy theater and plays over films they would choose that but the reality is people enjoy film. Theater will be around for a long long time but I don't think its going to get more popular.

I nominate this thread for stupidest title of the week award. Chinese IP theft is the hallmark of the country. Its what they do best, therefore comparing US attempts to dampen down theft with Chinese crime leave me scratching my head.

By way people, stop stealing stuff. Grow the fuck up.

to touch on the subject more film can and does have positive impacts on local economies. Large blockbusters can bring needed jobs to needy areas. Even smaller films can bring renovation to sagging downtowns in middle america. This does happen.

Films live a life over many years. Good film can stay with us forever. By refusing to support that you are killing something you enjoy. Even someone like boberfett still enjoys watching movies or playing videogames. We all do. In my life I dont hate anyone enough to rob myself of the pleasures of being in a modern life.

Local economies would do better if live theater were common and your industry died. You're just pulling the same bullshit that the wealthy manufacturers say when sending jobs to China. They're creating haves and have nots, you just don't care because you're on the money making side. You are exactly what you hate you greedy pig.

And local economies would be better if they had unlimited unicorns. The free market supports exactly how much live theater can exist.

We arent creating have and have nots. I have no idea how you are trying to say that a free market industry with a large (and I mean LARGE) middle class segment is the same as industrialists shipping jobs out of the country.

What I see is just an angry bitter dude.

The free market also supports exactly what price consumers are willing to pay for electronics. Manufacturing in China supports that price, manufacturing here does not. Sounds to me like you're suddenly in support of offshoring.

We arent creating have and have nots. I have no idea how you are trying to say that a free market industry with a large (and I mean LARGE) middle class segment is the same as industrialists shipping jobs out of the country.

I don't expect you to see how they're the same, you're willfully ignorant to the truth of the matter.

What I see is just an angry bitter dude.

I'm not bitter about anything, I don't really give a damn what you do. It's just funny to see your attitude do a complete 180 when it's your own industry's lifeblood under attack. You're a typical ignorant Democrat hypocrite.

Because he is a libertarian. Yeah I don't get it either.

And you're Democrats who hate wealthy industrialists who move jobs to China, but love wealthy IP conglomerates who move jobs to Hollywood. Yeah, I don't get it either.

None of you have a "right" to the internet. Think of it long term more as driving on the highway - there are rules and you must be licensed.
Soon we'll be charged with PUI - posting under the influence. The first time I run someone over with my computer, you'll have a point.

So Hollywood is a different country now? You should be happy that some American industries still exist. Your just full of hate. It's what defines you.

You act as though there's a difference between shipping jobs across the country and around the world. To the people without jobs where they used to be, those jobs might as well be on the moon.

You're a terrible armchair shrink. At least Moonie sounds intelligent when he tries, you just sound like a moron.

This is such a stupid ill informed statement.
