I can see it happening. I personally realized romney was a POS when he went on about how Bush is next to Christ because thanks to him the US has not been hit by terrorists since 2001.
Sure, but McCain is like 140 years old...if he dies in office, whoever fills the VP slot could become the next President.
He does have a good chance of dying. He's had cancer like freaking four times and he is 71. He won't die slowly. He'll just up an croak one day.

Only he needs a VP (and he's going to have to appoint a cabinet, obviously) and while McCain might be a good moderate Republican who I like even though I'm a liberal...the trouble is that the constitution prevents him from serving as his own VP, attorney general and secretary of defense.

I, for one, would welcome the idea of a return to the vice presidency as a pretty face, symbolic position.

So he should pick Dana Perino eh? Hmm..

Nice Sig Skoorb :)

I wonder if McCain was the POTUS, would the right wingers still back torture the way they did, knowing what happened to the POTUS in the past.

if Obama's time machine plan works out, maybe he can appoint his younger, hotter self as VP. ;)

Wraps up FL for the Republicans and turns Ohio into ground zero for 4 months.

Romney helps by being a business man, but he doesn't help McCain win any important states.

Bookmarked for later. Makes a lot of sense to me, assuming Crist doesn't have some baggage in his background. Also gives him a Southernor on the ticket to complement McCain's Western base.

Crist is a joke and is under fire right now for handing out appointments to his friends. Nor will he bring any Southern Street Cred to McCain's campaign. He will be a one term gov and hasn't come close to doing a damn thing in his short term in office.

On Romney, he's not much of a business man, he's Gordan Gecko in the flesh, the corporate White House already had it's show for the last 8 years, so let's try something new.

he also may or may not be a closet gay.

wouldn't it be a crazy world if the republicans were the one with the gay candidate while Obama donates more money to the same congressional black caucus that pushed the DNC to remove gays from its affirmative action platform? lol.

While that may be, he was also possibly the biggest douchebag to run this year. I don't trust a thing that came out of his mouth.

For once we actually completely disagree. Romney as the VP would make me actually VOTE this November!

I agree too. McCain would die in office Romney be OK too. Huckabee likes mexicans almost as much as Bush Does. Cannot vote for a open boarder guy even if he is a Christian. I know he says he isn't but his record says he does.

In a Che' T-shirt smoking a spliff with the marxist friends/teacher that he admired. Great. How about his racist unpatriotic wife.

Yep, you did. Lately I've been afraid I'm gonna owe you an apology and have to eat some crow for disagreeing with you in that earlier post of yours. :)

Every time I see Romney next to McCain, and that's been quite often lately, I think of your prediction.

Damn, I still think McCain's too much of a prick to let bygones be bygones. IDK...

Fern

McCain's too much of a "moderate" pussy to hold grudges and loves to "make deals" so Romney is a very viable pick.

Regarding McCain....

Why would you like a pro-war pro-patriot act Republican? The reasons you like him are the reasons I loath him. He's "tough on security" which screams neocon and abuse of government powers, the same that we've had these past 7 years.

I don't have to agree with every single position a candidate holds to think they would be decent at the job. My biggest complaint with Republicans is that they tend to be way too socially conservative for my tastes, while McCain is more moderate. And while he may be pro-war and pro-PATRIOT ACT, he's one of the few Republicans who's not also pro-torture.

My political views tend to be pretty far to the left, pretty much every major Presidential candidate is too far to the right on at least one or two issues for me to agree with everything they do. I tend to base my judgments more on their overall ability to do the job, and I think McCain is probably a good guy who would do a good job, whether or not I agree with him on everything. He's far better than any of the other ass-clowns in the Republican primary, certainly.

How can anyone be against American style torture?

Also I think the whole idea of a VP carrying a state is exaggerated--the real needs are someone with a different type of experience (governor) and someone who can be trusted on the economy (businessman).
Cheney made a lot of sense at the time.

Bush had no Washington experience and no foreign policy experience, Cheney had both of them in spades.

Just because Cheney has turned into Darth Cheney doesn't mean his choice didn't make sense at the time.

I predict McCain will choose Lindsey Graham as his running mate. The two of them seem to be awfully close lately.

I can attest that your statement is false, based on seeing him muck things up here in Massachusetts.

that's really really odd... she's said publicly, on multiple occasions, that she never ever plans on running for a national public office.

Denying that you'd ever accept the office of Vice President is a prerequisite for running for Vice President.

seems to go a bit beyond just casually denying it...

"I know what it takes to run for president. I've watched it up close... one of these days very soon I am going to want to return to being an academic again and to get back to the California life, and the world of ideas"

"I don't want to run for president of the United States... I will not run for president of the United States. I think people who run are great. I don't want to run. I don't think I will be president of the United States ever... I won't run."

how can she justify wanting to be McCain's VP when she very clearly doesn't want to be president?

I was almost shocked at this news tonight. I'm not sure if it will guarantee that he'll lose or not like some of my friends seem to think, but she enbodies the worst of both worlds for those who judge simply on gender and race...a BLACK WOMAN? OH NOES!

I really hope this doesn't happen. I don't want Condy Rice as my President, and at McCain's age...
(plus, I really don't trust the Neocons to NOT "arrange an accident" for McCain to ensure her placement in the office.)

Crist is hated here in FL, as far as I can see that is... I doubt it would 'wrap it up.' Even the Republicans I know here, have a special distaste for him.

edit: after doing so research (aka reading BS polls) it seems to go back and forth. But the actual people I speak with, do not like him, and he has actually lived in St. Pete.
