People have a choice in care providers and I make it perfectly clear with my doctor the day I step foot in their office that I want the truth and anything less is unacceptable. If not, pretty easy to find one that will.

Just an FYI, I did not watch the video. Just listening to enough friends and family talk about it was enough for me to get the gist of what was said.

Isn't everything a choice? Maybe your, maybe its the choice of someone else. Like getting married, having kids, and things to burden others by your choices in life.

My borderline obesity may cost the medical insurance industry, but nowhere near as much as a spouse and or kids do to the community. And being borderline just means zero help from outside.

Have I lost weight in the past? Sure. When I was a teenager I got sick to where I couldn't eat for 6-7 days and not even drink anything for 3. I lost 35 pounds as my body ate itself while I was unconscious.

When I was injured in the military I crutched it to and from the feeding hall and my choice, more times than not, was to skip meals to the point I went from a size 40 waist to a size 32. Again, my body ate itself.

But regular exercise and dieting has never worked for me. So, it may be my choice to accept my lifestyle but it is the choice of someone else to shame me over it.

BTW, my medical benefits covered a whopping $143 of my medical costs this year. Imagine if I was a pregnant woman.

Unless you have a thyroid or other metabolic issue... you are doing it wrong.

I don't think fat people are bad or deserved to feel shitty about themselves, but I think it needs to be made 100% clear that unless you have a medical condition, being over weight is absolutely a choice and within your control.

I don't think this chick or anybody needs to go out of their way to shame fat folks, but I don't feel one bit sorry for anybody who is over weight. Any medical conditions, emotional problems and whatnot that result from carrying extra pounds is completely voluntary.

Race, Age, and Gender are not choices. Neither is genetics.

Also, spouse + Kids may have more chances for medical bills... but... uhhh.... THEY PAY FOR IT. When I added my wife on to my medical plan, it was effectively doubled.

Also, I would be willing to place a wager that statistically medical costs are lower with families than single people on average (IE: 4 Single people vs. a Family of 4). Mostly from things such as making healthy meals, looking out for each other, etc...

You might want to narrow some of that down, or go talk to Caitlyn or half of Thailand. All of the above is at a stage that it is choice and covered in some manner by healthcare to change and/or reverse/stop it.

I just thought I was asking questions for a discussion on the matter.

If I thought this was a serious enough topic, I would have put an effort into watching/listening 6.5 minutes of a tirade on fat people.

Pretty much. Comedy not found, definite trolling and attention whoring attempt found (and completed successfully)... but not disagreeing with the entire message. I've seen thin/fit shaming more recently, dafuq?

P.S. Fat (actually obese, not just thicker) person once got enraged at me because I congratulated her when she said she was going to try to lose some weight. The whole story? I mentioned potential health issues being overweight could bring while telling her, "good for you." Five years later, we avoid each other, and she's still fat.

And while I'm here, people at work saw me eat shit, junk food daily. They kept asking me, "how are you so thin?" Because I did an hour of walking to get to work daily. You people walk 5 minutes to your garage and from the parking lot, then sit all day.

We have a lot of people from Asia here - do you think it would be right to charge Asian's more for their car insurance based on statistics showing they are more likely to be in an accident? Again, things you can control - such as the % of people most likely to have a wreck that drive a yellow sports car is totally acceptable - because you can prevent that charge if you choose to.

Uh, teenage males make ungodly amounts of testosterone which obviously increases risky behavior. It is an uncontrollable fact. I have no problem with ins companies charging them more based on this physiological fact.

I got insurance at 24 years and 11 months, had it for 1 month, cancelled it and took out a new policy starting the day I hit 25. That 13 months of insurance was cheaper than taking out a 12 month policy aged 24 years 11 months.
Of the insurance companies I looked at, only one would even insure me aged under 25.

Yep, the "compliment" is a passive/aggressive way was telling you that you were a fatass and it's about damn time you lost that weight.

I'm 6'4" and was up near 300. I have a big frame, so I did not look like I weighed that much. (the guess your weight dudes at the fair always estimated me at 260, lol)

But I needed to lose the weight. My knees, etc. No blood pressure issues, no 'Beetus...I'm actually very healthy otherwise, but nobody needs to be that big if they're not an NFL lineman, so I'm now down to about 268 and slowly dropping.

I never tried to fool myself about it, though, like most fatties do. I never said "well, that diet didn't work for me". If I started to diet and didn't stay on it, I'd admit it. But you hear all these lardos saying "none of the diets worked for me", and other than the very few that have a medical issue that causes weight gain, they're all lying. When a diet "didn't work", that means "You didn't follow it"...because they ALL work...IF you stay on it.
