Amusingly enough, a coworker injured himself badly on the back of a motherboard, on the sharp pointy bits like you did today. He has a 2cm gash on his hand now.

My fingers are fat enough - besides, we only have one pair of gloves, I let the girl use them so she doesn't get all axe-murdered by the satanic Dells.

I have all kinds of criss-crossing scars, missing chunks of fles, etc. on my fingertips after doing this for a month. My fingerprints are no longer the same.

The solder points are probably all done by a machine press type deal. And who wants to manually clip each point just so it won't be "razor sharp," I mean... come on. Dell makes money by selling quantity. They couldn't care less about the quality of some intricate details that the average person will never see.

Then explain why every other manufacturer on the planet doesn't have razor edges? I mean, even MSI's enthusiast boards aren't lethal weapons

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Depends what you define as a weapon I suppose.
I've seen more dead MSI boards than I have dead hookers.
And I've seen a lot of dead hookers, with reference to my now-deleted thread about removing hooker blood from walls and ceilings.

The fingerprints bit is cool, but the loss of fine sensation in my fingertips due to scarring and such is a bad thing - just ask the ladies 🙁

Just remember to stroke a bit more gently than you reckon is necessary, and you're golden.
Light touch FTW.*

(Can't believe I just posted "FTW"...)

[Edit] * You hear that, pre-pubescant virgins? It's not an XBox controller, it's a woman.

Indeed. And I suppose they're now "ribbed for her pleasure", too. Or something. Har. I can't believe I've only neffed away half a shift so far.

I bet I could take apart any retail computer and find razor sharp solder points in it somewhere. What do you want them to do, stamp a warning sticker on the back saying "If the little pointy things on the back of the motherboard that we don't want you playing with look sharp, they probably are!"?

I could, too. They're in the damned PSU. I'm used to looking for them there. Only in vintage Dells do they manifest themselves anywhere else (they're much less common on newer models since the points are MUCH smaller and apparently less prone to sharpness)
