Your problem.. suck it up like all minorities do and just deal with it. They aren't going to change their website for less than 2% of the population (pulled that number out of my ass, but you get the gist of it).

Fuck you guys. Here's a hint. If I need to head to support.dell.com for video drivers, odds are I don't have the required software to correctly view your drives and downloads page with a bunch of fucking flash images, activex controls, and your fucking new pop-up browser driver search feature. Yeah, it may look really cool, unless you are heading to the drivers and downloads page looking for VIDEO DRIVERS YOU IDIOTS! ALL I SEE ARE RED FUCKING X's ON YOUR DAMNED POP-UP SEARCH THINGY!

GET IT RIGHT! STOP FUCKING WITH ME! DID NO ONE THINK ABOUT THIS BEFORE THEY IMPLEMENTED THIS SHIT? DID NO ONE RAISE A HAND AND SAY "EXCUSE ME, BUT PEOPLE LOOKING FOR THE DRIVERS REQUIRED TO VIEW THIS PAGE CORRECTLY MIGHT NOT ACTUALLY HAVE THE DRIVERS SINCE THIS PAGE IS WHERE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DOWNLOAD THE DRIVERS!"

FUCK!

have you thought of maybe using another box to go to dell's website, downloading and burning the drivers to disk for future use as well?

this is what i had to do when my vid driver got wiped out a week ago. it was very annoying haveing to go thru the extra steps of finding it and putting it on a thumb drive to transfer it over. sure, it didnt really take all that much more time, but the extra steps made it more annoying either way. especially when i had no troubles reaching web pages, just couldnt view the flash type portions.

I don't think the video drivers are preventing you from seeing Flash and ActiveX controls

I'm confused about that as well.

yes, they actually do. my card driver got corrupted so i had to reinstall, nothing else changed and i wasnt able to see them until i reinstalled the video driver. once that was done i went online and got the latest driver (dell was 2 versions behind) and installed that as well.

Holy crap OP, your and fucking idiot!

Driver issues shouldn't be causing your inability to properly install Flash or install Active X controls. If you've got such a major issue, call Dell support and give them your service tag and express service code and it'll be fixed. If you where smart, you would've purchased 3+ yrs of professional support and have a technician fixing your Dell the next day. Shazaaaaam!

We are a dell desktop and laptop shop, about 1000 machines in all. To be honest they really aren't bad when you are dealing in bulk. As long as you have a bulletproof image (which we have damnit, I made the image!), the hardware rarely fails and if it does their hardware support is top notch (we have gold technical support with them). They have great local connections with the smaller dell certified hardware repair companies out here. Most of the service is overnight. We're talking only one or two hard drive failures a year. I'm pretty happy with that.

I'm currently facing the problem of getting NIC drivers without having a second computer or the original driver disc. I feel your pain, OP.

how do go online without having nic the properly installed... 😕

Quit fucking buying Dell and buy from a company like HP, IBM, etc.

I don't think you understand that this has nothing to do with the hardware type itself, and I'm going to assume you don't understand how hardware lease agreements for larger-than-your-three-computer-home businesses works either. I should have just ignored your reply altogether.

Ha, yeah, that's a pain. I remember when I reformatted an old machine of mine a while back. I had to take a thumb drive over to my buddy's house to grab the NIC driver offline and then once that was installed I could download the rest of the drivers. No fun :|

Dial into their download center....you know, with a modem. Like we did before the intarweb.

Explain how a flash loaded motherboard website helps anyone at all, dialup or not.

And when comcast and the like spread their bandwidth cap...all the rest of you will start to get upset when your plate gets loaded with vegetables and you can't fit as many meat and potatoes on it!

Several issues with that:

1) The modem drivers were not recognized with XP Pro.
2) I don't have a landline in my house nor do i have the cable to connect my cell phone to make that call.
3) there is no direct download line to gateway that i know of.

Though, I did fix my problem. I ended finding a copy of CPU-Z on a flash drive and i was able to get the kind of chipset this MB had. I used my work computer to download the generic drivers from intel's website. This gave me wireless internet on my laptop, after which i was able to get the remaining drivers and the computer is now up and running.

Dear Mr. Pickles.

This isn't Dell Service or Support forums. This is Anandtech forums. Please feel free to contact support.dell.com at your earliest convenience. And learn to get a driver disk.

Sincerely,
SirStev0

I aboslutely understand how lease agreements work, especially with larger companies that I personally deal with. No, I don't own my own business and neither do you, you just work for one.

HP and IBM have their own financial services departments for leasing, that offer all the norms, 2-3-4 FMV, $1 buyouts, etc... and a better product in my opinion. You can get "Gold" tech support with either of them with the same warranty support, etc. and a great product.
