And look, it only took you 2000 post to get there... j/k. Anyway, good deal, got my cousin in on it. He almost went for the $20 rebate deal which I just noticed yesterday that it did not state Amazon as one of the retailier qualified. But this $50 rebate does. Thanks again.

It is a very good deal.

However, know what you buy.

Pros: - Supports 64 & 128bit WEP
- Built-in Windows/LPR print server w/ bi-directional support.
- Good throughput vs. distance performance

Cons : - Does not support all bi-directional printer functions
- 45% throughput decrease with WEP enabled
- Can't attach external "booster" antennas

Hehe. Most posts are from Off Topic, Software, or comments in regard to Hot Deals. Don't really know if I ever posted a deal before.

well...since I had some Amazon GC's anyway....took the plunge and ordered myself one. 🙂

thanks for the info and the coupon Lars! 😀

It's also good to change the password to access the router, password protect or do not share your networked computers, and most importantly set your MAC filter in the router to prevent unauthorized access to your network. You not only don't want others to access your systems but also do not want them to use up your bandwidth.

BTW I have the SMC version and it's an excellent. I only do wish the SMC PC Card worked at a farther distance especially under WEP (not even 128, but 64), also the stupid utility resets itself after removing and returning the PC Card from my notebook making me retype the stupid eyncryption key. Not related to the router but if you are considering the D-Link PC Card it's also the same as the SMC version of PC Card.

Thanks for the link Lars. I just picked this up friday night at my local Best Buy for $200, and they gave me a $50 mir, thought I had a deal... now I can take a print of this in and get the difference + 10% (another $50)!! Man, this is so nice....

OH, fyi everyone - this gateway can also link to an external modem (for all of us 56k'ers out here).

<< BB does not PM from internet >>

True, but Staples B&M has a 110% PM policy 😀

Ordered this this morning and it shows estimated delivery on 3/10, ugh...
I may get it from Best Buy for $180, then PM it with my Amex Blue. That will cost an extra $10 + tax.

I have this same router and a Orinoco card I picked up from someone else here on the board and must say that it works great. Very easy to setup and the Orinoco card takes me pretty much anywhere around theh ouse. I had a D-Link card at first that didn't work very well.

for those that have this router already, has anyone set this is up under windowsXP??
i've read some of the reviews on amazon that it was difficult to setup under XP since its not offically supported or something...

Thanks in advance! 🙂

Router don't matter what OS. I think you are talking about the Print Server driver. The answer is Yes. They have the print server driver working for Window XP for about a month now...

Outside maybe. Throw in walls and other obstructions & your probably looking at 30 meters with an Orinoco card.
