Does estimated ship date of 3/14 invalidate rebate requirement of 3/9?

I ordered on 3/4, but evidently Amazon is back-ordered and won't ship until the rebate date has expired.

Do I need to cancel this order, or will D-Link honor the order date (not the ship date)?

Hmm...good question, I do believe it should be ok to get the rebate still even thos the shipping and delivery dates are so off.

If you go to your "my orders" in amazon, it will show that you placed it on 3/04 or whatever date you had...i'm sure you could print that out to verify that you bought it within the right time span. That's what I'm hoping...

But I don't get it, it says usually 24 hours it will ship, it's been 3 days and nothing yet. Kinda cheezing me off, i'm gonna give amazon a call if possible tomorrow.

hmmm, i can't seem to find a place that has that $10 coupon. is it expired? does anybody want to hint at me where to get it?

EDIT: found some but they are expired.

SECOND EDIT: found some valid ones. damn, they were a bitch to find.

i can't find the $10 coupon, if anyone can PM it to me i'd appreciate it

thanks guys

edit - nevermind, found it over at gogoshopper

As long as you mail the rebate by the rebate mailing deadline (4/11?) you are fine - the amazon receipt will show the order date which is what matters, not the shipping date.
It was "Availability: Usually ships within 24 hours" when I ordered too but that didnt happen. Here's what my order status shows now: "Shipping Soon: 1 item - delivery estimate: March 14 - March 15" BTW, I ordered Sunday Mar 3rd.

Mine has 2 dates: shipping estimate and delivery estimate: what's up with that?

Also, I'm looking for a $10 amazon coupon too, i think the one used before expired, if anyone has one, please PM me. Thanks.

I think "shipping estimate" is the date that they put it on the truck to ship it to you.

I think "delivery estimate" is the date the truck arrives at your house and they deliver it to you.

snedecor,

I had smae question so I e-mailed them, and as usual no response. I called them and talked to CS, she assured me that it's the order date that matters and not the ship date. I ordered my router few minutes ago.

FYI, for those looking for PC Cards to pair with this deal (as I was), here's some good information for you:

The best card for longer-range transmissions is said to be the Orinoco Silver or Gold cards (the difference is Silver is 64bit WEP, while the gold has 128bit). Now, if you look anywhere, these cards are kinda pricey compared to the generic PCMCIA wireless cards, but you can find some pretty good deals if you know the following:

Dell Truemobile 1150 = Orinoco Gold
Wavelan Gold = Orinonco Gold
Wavelan Silver = Orinonco Silver

Since I've heard the WEP really slows down the speeds, I went for the silver (I'm only running a home network anyway), and found the Lucent Wavelan Silver for $55 shipped using a buy-it-now on E-bay. There's also some decent deals to be had on those others I listed above. Anyway, just thought I'd pass along the info.

Here's the drivers for the Orinoco and Lucent cards, BTW (I don't think the Dell is upgradable with the Orinoco firmware, but the Lucent cards are according to the site):

Orinoco Drivers

Hope that helps someone. (Also, if I'm mistaken here, please correct me, I'm still learning this stuff too!) 🙂

HP also rebadges the orinoco silver for at least some of its 802.11b cards (particularly the F2136A).

The sony VAIO cards (the ones that were on sale at CompUSA for $20 recently) MAY also be a variant of Orinoco Silver cards, if you can find one. The confusing part about them, is that the stated specs say that they support only 40-bit WEP, whereas, the orinoco silver supports 64-bit, so apparently, there are some differences (maybe just firmware).

I almost went with the Orinoco card (or the rebadged equivalent), but I was able to order a 3com with XJACK for about the same price direct from 3com, and I really like the retractable antenna. I also hear that the range on the 3com is very good, rivaling the Orinoco. If it isn't, I'll just sell it and get the Orinoco, but I have read a few very good reviews and user comments on the 3com.

Nack

I ordered mine yesterday afternoon and it showed as shipping in 1-2 days. I just checked this afternoon and it?s showing estimated ship date of 1-2 weeks:Q Estimated delivery is end of the month :frown: I?m glad I?m not in a hurry for once.

I doubt you'll get your 100 meters on any 802.11b WAP or Router/WAP combo. Unless that is your WAP is located outdoors. Indoors you will be limited by the construction materials used at your location. I already have a D-Link WAP and with the construction on my house it barely makes it outside that is why I ordered this as a second unit.
(overall I am pleased with my D-Link WAP so I hope the Router-WAP combo works well

Thanks for the tip on this router, I jumped at one late Saturday on the last day. Does anyone out there have experience (suscess or horror story ) with D-Link's rebate program?.

This is crap.

I ordered my router on Mar. 4th, and it estimated the deilivery on mar. 19-26th. I checked last night the order and it said it was preparing to ship, thus I can't change my order. However, today, I checked again, and the delivery date has been moved back to Mar. 26th-Apr.2. WTF is up with this! WHY CAN'T THEY JUST SHIP IT!!!! The thing is supposed to ship within 24 hours. Geez, this is pissing me off!

I got that same "your order is being prepared for shipping" thing a couple days ago but it did, in fact ship and is slowly making its way across the US to me. 🙂

I ordered on March 3rd. It shipped on March 11th according to Amazon (UPS says March 10th) with a delivery date schedule as March 15th according to UPS.

Gotta remember to send in that rebate form quick when we all get them...

my ups tracking# shows that its already at the apartment, so i'll be checking it out when I get home tonite. 🙂

«BTW (I don't think the Dell is upgradable with the Orinoco firmware, but the Lucent cards are according to the site»

I used the Lucent firmware files to upgrade my True Mobile card last year. I had to temporarily load the lucent driver to get the firmware to take but it did work.

I'm using the TrueMobile with an SMC access point and it's terrific.

«I got ATT boradband anyone knows how to configure it?
I got 3 static IPs.»

1. AT&T doesn't offer static IPs. You can get multiple IPs but they are all dynamic.
2. You don't need 3 IPs -- the extra charges are a complete waste of money

All you need is a router like this one. Call AT&T and tell them that you have a new machine and you only need one IP. Give them the MAC from the bottom of the router and wait 20 minutes. Then configure the router according to the manual. All your machines will share the same IP; it will be cheaper and more secure than 3 separate IPs.

Got mine yesterday. It had shrink wrap outside but when I opened it, some of the plastic inside was torn indicating that it was opened previously (return/refurb?).

I emailed CS at Am@zon and they apologized. Said they will mail me a replacement (free 2-day shipping).:|
