Got one! 😀

My First USA E-Card gives me 5% back on Fry's purchases....so I get another $7.00 back from this deal. $48.49 shipped after MIR's! 😀

Thanks for the deal! 😀

just placed my order for the 80 gig, total came 140.55-80.00 rebate=60.55. just got the same drive from compusa yesterday delivered 144.00 -30.00 rebate= 114.00. Wouldn't of payed that, but got the shaft from Staples so out of anger, I pay more, yeah i'll show em! Wonder if I can return the drive to compusa, the wrapper on the outer box has been opened, but the drive is still in the sealed esd bag. They have a 15% fee for returning opened non defective merchandise, hmm maybe return the the drive that I ordered from outpost to Compusa think they'll notice, he he, oh well this is a good deal, even if I have to return the other drive at a cost it will still be cheaper than the one I bought at compusa

If it is the exact same drive, I don't see why not. It's not CompUSA will lose anything if it is, other than the sale since they are getting the drive back in mint condition. 🙂

Any one received multiple order confirmations?

Outpost's server seemed to have some trouble around 12:00 AM. Just like Dealmunky said, it threw out Java Exception and asked me to go back to the previous page and retry. I did that for serveral times and finally got one order through. To my surprise, I received three order confirmations!!! Boomer! Guess the only thing I can do is to write them an email and call them tomorrow morning. Any suggestions?

BTW, the coupon said one rebate per household. Those who ordered multiple drives may want to find out a way to wrestle with them ...

Scored one too. I'd get another but don't want to be greedy and I really don't need another one.

I'd say jump on this ASAP and be sure to save/print those webpages that say "$49.99 after rebates"

Just got mine! And just in time, my 18 gig Maxtor is maxed out. This deal makes up for the headache trying to get in on the Staples sale.

Thanks for the link, McPhreak.

Its says it on the order confirmation as well 😀

Ugg, I broke down and got one. Only got 5 gigs left on my 20 gig IBM and I want to install a few more games. I had my heart set on a WD but for $50 I couldn't resist. I hope the rebates work though, I'll bet anything that if they (the rebate co.) have to choose between the $50 and $30 rebate, they will choose the $30.:frown: As for performance I couldn't find any numbers on the web, just customer reviews, which aren't that useful.

I got the 80GB drive and I'm thinking about going back for the 120GB drive. I MUST RESIST! 😕

Just got one, Thanks.😀

When I send in the rebate I will also include a copy of the webpages that say "$49.99 after rebates just to "refresh paragos memory"😉

I want to pick up an extra one of these for my brother.
The rebate form states one per household, which should be fine as there are two households mailing one each.
My question is will a copy of the one reciept for both drives work with the two rebates mailed?
Or should I just place two orders and eat the extra shipping cost?

Thanks for any help

The $50 and $30 Frye/Outpost rebates are both listed on Maxtor's web site. This deal should be good and is the best hard drive deal going on right now. Thanks!

PS: The final order page and the email confirmation both say $49 after rebate.

1 Year Limited Manufacturer Warranty

Bah! The 60GB L6Y2 I just bought has a 3 year warranty.

Maxtor does not trust their new 8MB cache drives enough to give them a better warranty?

Ugh. I wanted 3 of the 80's for 2 systems I am building, too. Now what to do?

I think the warranty info is incorrect, it is identical to the one I am looking at on my desk right now and on the box it says 3 year manufacturer warranty.
Waitman
P.S. Thanks for the post Mc Phreak!

I think the warranty info is incorrect, also. I thought Maxtor's 8MB cache models had a 3 year warranty.

BTW, I am not threadcrapping. Thanks for the post. It is just the only HDD's I have had fail on me were Maxtors. (I was lucky enough to have never bought that one flaky IMB drive model.) In fact the Maxtor's I just bought are the first after a couple of years or so. Anyway, that's why I am concerned.

NM, I went ahead with two orders and paid extra odd $6 for shipping.

Thanks for the thread!

I am guessing Outpost/Fry's will have the same prices and rebates. I think I will just drop by Fry's in the morning.

Any comments?

Awesome Deal! 😀 Thanks McPhreak.

I was worried about the 2 rebates working till I saw they went to the same address. I'll be mailing my original UPC in one envelope with both rebate forms enclosed.

like the staples deal. but from the data on storagereview.com it appears the maxtor is slower then the new ibm 180gxp and WD SE. Im returning mine.
I did a head to head comparison and it looks like the WD SE performed most poorly. I would say the IBM and Maxtor are a very close comparison and it depends what you're going to use the hard drive for. It seems that the IBM is better for gaming, and the Maxtor is better for business applications. I think I'm going to stick with mine 🙂

D@mn, I though I didn't want any hard drives......but seems like I can't resist this deal........oh see what you people did to me. ~~~~ Thanx for the deal.

Now what are we supposed to do with the original UPC thing?
