Okay, my Best Buy story:
I placed the order for my DDR RAM at 8am on Sunday morning. I recieved my first e-mail within a few minutes, and my second e-mail about 45 minutes later stating that my order was ready to pickup.
I went into the store last night (Monday night) to pick it up. The CSM checks the "Online Order" pickup spot. Nothing there for me. He calls the computer department. None left back there. He calls the warehouse guys. Nothing left in the back room. They check the computer, and it says that the store SHOULD still have four of them left. Nothing on the shelves. Nothing mixed in with the other RAM. Nothing.
So the guy offers to take the price of the rebate off of my purchase. "But," I tell him, "I've already paid for it. My credit card has already been charged $37. So far I've paid $37 for an e-mail that tells me that I am supposed to come to the store to pickup my non-existant RAM." "Well, we haven't had any of that stuff in here for weeks," He says. I pointed out the ad that says "Minimum 15 per store." "Oh," he says, and writes down a number and extension for me to call today.
The guy was nice and apologetic about the thing, so I am not blaming him. But I've been SCREWED by an inept "Online-Instore" pickup program run by Best Buy. So far, I am out $37 and have NOTHING to show for it, except for an e-mail promising me that I can come pick up my RAM at the store anytime in the next seven days. And an hour of my time ($20/hour is what I make at work.) And driving time and such. For NOTHING, except that I have to call someone and spend even MORE of my time today sorting this out.
"You can return it right away," the guy told me, "And I'll charge you $25 for it." And that's fair enough, I suppose. But I'm still out a whole lot of headache on this deal.
I'll let you all know how the phone calling goes later today... Anyone else just peeved at the ineptitude of the Best Buy online-instore pickup program?
