for those familiar with PS2/3 and watching DVDs on it, how necessary/usefully is the DVD remote?
You can use the controller, but obviously it is less feature rich and convenient than the remote. You either have to leave the controller on the entire time, or turn it off and on as needed. I got the remote as part of the Amazon deal, it works great.

Or just use a Harmony remote :)

Good idea, excpet on 3 sony went IR less and is using bluetooth instead.

At least you don't need a line of sight to the console

My PS3 shipped today, and will be here Tuesday. I'm actually kind of excited as I've never owned a console(relatively hardcore PC gamer). Time to fire up a membership with Gottaplay and rent some games. Thanks again OP!!

I did end up getting the card last night (instant approval ftw) and then couldn't order due to some problem accepted said credit card (instant apporval ftl).

I figure there must have been some disconnect between the card issuer and the sony store at that time. Will just wait till later when they have free shipping again to order (and maybe at that time their ps2 and 3 game selection won't be 75% backordered).

Quick question, can this be combined with the "No payments until 2009" card that I saw? If so...

When applying for this card you'll see on the generic card eula that there is 0% for 12 months on new purchases. Once you are approved you'll see specific details that include 0% to 2009. No real change as that's only a couple more months.

Stopped by a local CC and picked up NK7 college hoops for $17. It's rated pretty good at gamespot so if I ever do manage to order a ps3 at least I'll have a game for it :)

So as of Friday my "status" on my credit card is that it's under review and I will get something in the mail w/in 7-10 days (i guess as of last Friday) so I'm still hoping I can hop on this deal when I get the mail. I'm tempted to call them and bug em and just ask if they can give me the # if i've been approved heh.

Me too. I've just been watching upscaled DVDs and playing PS2 games.

SonyStyle is out of all good games so I have been waiting until they are back in stock so I can cash in on my point for another controller.

You don't need to wait for disc games! Super Stardust HD, Calling All Cars, and Piyotama are all great :D

Strange. I was instantly approved for $5k (the max) and subsequently approved for $7k.

Have fun with your purchase! Remember to get the reward points from a B&M purchase you need to register your purchase on their site.

But that $150 credit will come back automatically right? When I went into the B&M store, they were well aware of this promotion so I guess I can just ask them how it all works heh.

After using my PS3 for about 3hrs, I've decided it's a pretty shitty console as far as gaming goes in comparison to 360. Thank God it can play Blu-Ray.

Do you have an HDTV? If not, your life will be complete with one.

Isn't life fair? Save money on a nexgen console, then smack yourself in the head when you got to drop money on a better/bigger tv?

When I did this back in December, the credit was automatically posted after about 3 weeks.

I've pseudo HDTV. The 42" plasma in my bedroom is 1028x768 so it's not HD but it's close.

I played some of my PS2 games. It looked horrible until I upgraded the firmware and ran everything at 1080i. DVD movies looked good. This setup will do for now.

Anyone else have trouble activating their sony card once you got it?

I got it today and just called up and had no problems. Although the first thing it said was "please enter the last 4 digits of the card" and I did, and then the voice was like "I'm sorry that number was not recognized. please enter the full 16 digit number on your card" and then it worked.

I got that after the first 4, and the same after the 16 at which point they wanted me to talk to someone. Not in the mood to wait for some schmuck this late so I'll just call back later.
