This is tempting, but I don't consider an 8-12 week rebate much of a deal. For those who have the patience to deal with rebates, though, great deal.

Perhaps this should be put in Hot Deals?

EDIT: Whoops, not a rebate, but a credit on your card. This is a pretty good deal.

I did this last December for some Christmas shopping. It only took one statement cycle to get my credit though.

This is certainly tempting...but there are too many 360 games coming out this fall that I won't have any time for a PS3...so it would just be $350 wasted as of now.

Damn it! I would much rather get it for $350, rather than the remote and 6 movies for $500. :( BTW, thought this was spam for a moment, till I saw who posted it.

I believe you can still get the 5 free Blu-Ray movies. That offer is good until the end of September.

if there was no "MIR" I would probably do this.

It's a card credit from Sony though, not someone like TigerDirect, so you'll actually get this rebate.

If you're in the US and have a HDTV, blu-ray + Netflix is quite nice. FYI, Spider-Man 3 on blu-ray has just been announced for 10/10 and there will be a trilogy box set.

If you don't care about blu-ray then a 360 still makes more sense for pure gaming, though you should wait for the 65nm redesign that will hopefully be more reliable.

being from Sony is something that worries even more that I won't get this "credit" ...

Edit: here's the old SonyStyle rebate/credit thread for those worried about Teh 3vil Sony cheating them:
SonyStyle old credit

These credit card signup deals have been going on for years, and the SonyStyle one has had threads in Hot Deals before. A bunch of people took advantage of the $100 signup they offered late 2006 - early 2007, and people got their money.

anyone know why it says you can only go to the Sony stores in Deleware or Oregon to get this deal?

I think they were saying to go to the stores there to avoid Shipping and Tax. Those are the only two states that have Sony Style stores where that is possible.

Here's a semi-dumb question...what do you do with the card after this? Can you just keep it with a 0 balance forever and not have to worry about it? Or are there annual fees or other things that would force you to have to cancel it?

It's a regular Visa credit card, through Chase IIRC, see www.SonyStyle.com they have the signup on the main page and it should have all of the fine print.

Hmm. I might have to do this since I "need" a PS3 in my life. I'm already holdin onto 2 credit cards though (I got one on a recommendation from this website, The AmEx Blue Cash one with the 5% rebates on everything you buy). Oh well free money is free money I guess, so it must be done.

My wife would have killed me at that point.
